DO NOT send passports in post from outside the country. There is a very good chance they will be stuck. immediately send them that email asking for instructions.

NEWS from my end - parents passports got stamped and returned as of today. Date is not one year from stamping but 2 months short of it i.e for 10 months validity. Almost complete, next steps parents will have to travel but that might not happen until sometime next year March or April, so the next set of steps of getting PR card will be then.

Hi All,

Just want to know if anyone went through this process; I sponsored my parents when I was living in Ontario [address given to their PR application is in Ontario; their application got approved Jan-30 2018; got the visa to land (visa is valid until Jan-30, 2019). I am planning to bring them to Canada this Sept [booked air ticket].

My job situation changed and I am now moving to Quebec on October-1. Question I have:

Can my parents land to Canada and apply for followings with my new Quebec address?

- SIN Card
- PR Card
- After 3 months Quebec Health Insurance Card

Did anyone go through this situation? Also, to apply for SIN card, do you need PR card? If not PR card, which document you will need to submit?

Regards,

ER.

Please read the link below for info on what is required to obtain a SIN. Typically it is just COPR and Passport.
https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/sin/before-applying.html

Note: SIN cards are no longer issued. Now its just a printout that Services Canada will provide you during your visit.

Also PR card application is usually done automatically at the time of landing. You must provide the address for CIC to send you the card. See link below for more info.

I think you have not understood my question properly. I will be sending house hold items which I am using to Canada once I set up a house and I will be handing over a separate list of same to the Customs. However, the financial assets such as shares, bank deposits which are kept elsewhere and which will continue to be kept elsewhere - Is there any need to declare these details to customs at the time of entering Canada? Similarly should I be carrying any minimum amount of CAD by way of Bank Draft to show to immigration officer as is required if I were to land on express entry?

Please visit the 3 links below for more info.

Hi ya’all. Can anyone please tell me how long does it realistically take to receive a first PR card after landing. It has been 73 days now for my Mom. Curiosity has me going.

still waiting for medical requests for my parents. they're stuck in the background check process in Manila. :s anyone else?

Thanks for the link provided however it doesn't cover the point for which I seek clarification. I basically want to know whether I need to include the list of fixed deposits with the bank, stocks in various stock markets in the world etc in my declaration to Customs authorities on landing.

I will be landing as an immigrant in the middle of October, 2018 and would like to know whether there is any minimum amount of CAD I need to carry to fulfill/satisfy immigration officer? As I am sponsored by my daughter, I am under the impression that there is no need to carry any minimum CAD requirement for my stay in Canada as is required in case of skilled immigrant category. Appreciate if anyone can respond to this query.

Did they ask for paper copy by regular mail? I have always sent all scanned copies through email (Ottawa CPC)
