I saw it with my own eyes guys.. I was shocked.. I had asked my guy to line up at 5 thinking this would be enough but didn't seem so..the sad part was that each courier had a guy in line and other drivers on the road(from that courier) were coming and giving them packets(late/overnight shipments)..
hello avi_15, do you feel they are delivering 2000 applications or HappyRoad is actually telling you they are having 2000 apps to drop off? 2000 apps from one courier seems abnormal. I would think 200 to 300 at the max. each app has a lot of pages, even 100 of them are very heavy for one person.

Could you confirm? Were there anyone taking pictures using the phones? It feels this year is worse than last year. 2014 took 19 days to fill the cap. 2015 took 12 hours (8+4) to fill the cap. What is this year??

Probably they are accepting 10000 this year and announce the increased cap later. Pause the refugee process for a few weeks and get PGP in shape first? My wish.

Oh, with 4 people accepting deliveries... I wonder at what time the cap of 5000 was reached this year ((.

I think you are assuming that all 4 were accepting at the same time. With some many applications I would think there are enough breaks taken .. i doubt they would have more than 2 sitting there at a time. I dont think the govt cares how long couriers wait in the line... and couriers dont care if they have to return later when the line is short. Plus.. I would think that the success rate for applications would be 50 percent at best so they wont stop accepting after first 5000. All in all.. I would just say that it is just a lottery. Send your app as early as possible and then forget about it. If it doesnt work, apply again the following year.

According to ups , mine was received by ADUSEI at 7:36am (not sure if this is local time , or shipping zone time ) , I am worry because on the the website clearly says jan 4th after 8am .

It wouldn't be that difficult. Each person would presumably be counting the number of applications they have accepted - and I'm sure there would be a manager supervising. Once the total reaches 5000 - all three would start routing any packages received into a different area to be returned to the sender. All they have to keep track of is the first 5000. Anything after that is going back.

I think over the next week they do a preliminary check for completeness of all the apps before they officially accept/reject it from the 5K cap. So CIC should be accepting several thousand apps above the 5K, so they can replace apps that aren't complete and get sent back.

1. 2000 apps from Happy Road does seem too much especially because it is not one of those popular courier companies.
2. I sincerely wish they are accepting 10,000 applications this year

Could it be the time the driver arrived instead the package delivered?

No its still a cap of 5000 for 2016 as per the cic website.

What CIC should do is accept apps for 1 full week, and then just do a random lottery to pick the 5K/10K they are accepting. Fairest way that give people applying from Toronto the same chance as someone applying from BC.

This is how it should be done.

will see if he has any pics to share.. but I remember seeing those guys with 6-7 huge gunny bags.

We will know if we made it to the cap in March. Last year my application was received 12 noon the next day and was returned March 1st.

yes, they added:

We started accepting new applications to sponsor parents and grandparents on January 4, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. We will accept 5,000 new and complete applications. Your application will be returned to you if it is incomplete or if the cap has been reached.

taking only 5000 apps is ridiculous. First of all, Visa office is ON.. and it's just first come, first serve. How is it fair.

And Canada will take a lot of Syrian refugees which is really good thing but come on... we live and pay tax here... they should come up with something

new. And the process shouldn't take this long.. 4~5 year? Are you kidding me.. seriously???

But this will be unfair for a person who not lucky with lottery??? he applies every year on time and never gets a chance???

I think what cic is doing is right but the way they are doing is wrong.

What they should do is make an online system for applying.

Whoever apply after 8am online until the cap is reached. no need for these stupid courier companies and no need tp rely on anyone. only person you will blame will be you. Everyone will have fair chance Toronto or BC doesn't matter.
