Hi my name is Estuardo Dacaret, from Guatemala where I currently live with my wife (Canadian citizen) and 3 kids. We applied on the outland spousal sponsorship application on march of 2016 and on November I received another request for medicals and police certificates from Spain and USA both places because I lived in both of them while studying. I immediately did my medicals and sent them but both my certificates I've had some problems in receiving them, but recently received good news and looks like I'll be able to send them around May 12th. My question is with my current status, the time I've had my application processed, how long may it take for the pr results? Could they ask me for even more things? Does all of this mean I'm getting close to getting the results for my application or it may take a little while? Any help please

thank you

Short answer: No one knows accept CIC. They do have internal deadlines but it totally depends on the visa office of your country.

But make sure you follow the timelines. If they ask you to get a document in a month, provide them in a month. Also, scan them and send them through the CIC portal so that you have confirmation. If you cannot meet their deadline, request an extension through a case specific request, preferably a week before the final date.

Btw, if you find that your application is stuck without any progress, you have 2 options (1) Order "GCMS notes" to find the current status of your application (2) Ask your MP to do an inquiry. Search on this forum how to do that.

Hi Estuardo! From what I've seen on this forum getting the medical request is a very good sign. It generally means as long as everything checks out with what you send them, it would be likely that you would be approved for PR. So send them what they need as soon as possible :). Buena suerte!

No one can say with any certainty, but you should get a decision (as in 'yes / no / more information required') in weeks or months but not years (can't be any more precise)

Yes they could

Closer than you were, but likely to still take weeks or more likely months yet before you hear anything further I suspect (of course no one can know for sure).

And just to pick up on your title 'Time for PR Card'. Even at the end of this process, you will NOT be sent the PR Card. If your application is approved, you will receive a 'Confirmation of Permanent Residence' form / piece of paper with an expiry date. You must then land in Canada and declare PR before that expiry date, at which point CBSA will apply for your PR Card, which in turn will take at least 45 - 50 days to arrive at the Canadian address you must by then supply.
