In general Russian applicants are unlikely to get any priority unless proof that they are in the conflict zone.
Who knows what the conflict zone will be tomorrow..
the EU already closed it’s sky for all Russian planes and Russia will answer with closing its sky for all EU planes. So what do I do?? I’m a Canadian citizen and it’s them who put “prioritising on trying to get Canadians back to Canada” at the beginning of COVID. Now things get x1000 worse for both Ukrainians and Russians.
And again, we’ve been waiting for 15 months already.

US Embassy consular warning:
https://ru.usembassy.gov/security-alert-u-s-mission-russia/

Note language "U.S. citizens should consider departing Russia immediately via commercial options still available."

There's a pretty good likelihood global affairs and others will echo or have similar language soon. You can also put a link to the US consular warning.

Don't know it'll help but worth a try.

As a Canadian you would have likely been advised to leave Russia asap because Canada will be unlikely to help you even at this point since I assume consular services will likely be forced to close in Russia. Tit for tat. Canada expels ambassadors then Russia does the same. Flights out of Russia are likely to become more difficult so a other reason Canadians will be strongly encouraged to leave. In terms of actual safety most of the people living in Russia, especially Russians, will not be affected. Doesn’t seem like there is anything preventing you from leaving if you wanted to leave. Understand that you would prefer to leave with your spouse but there is the ability to follow after getting PR approval.

Hi all,

Thinking of the current global climate and praying for all citizens and those who have family and friends in Ukraine.

Naturally, IRCC priorities must shift to process applications from Ukraine as quickly as possible to reunite those families and get them safely to Canada, much like they did when the US pulled out of Afghanistan. I'm just curious whether anyone on here was in this process when apps from Afghanistan were rightly prioritized and how that affected the timelines for apps from other countries. As we've only recently filed our app, I wasn't paying attention to the timelines then. I also realize that no one has a crystal ball to tell the future but maybe someone has some knowledge, experience or a trend they noticed and can share.

Thanks and we stand with you, Ukraine.
IRCC should hire more staff, give overtime, ask retired agents if they can come back to help out, train and hire for remote work etc.
