@ cebugirl - Don't worry, pwede mo namang i-download yan online once you are in Canada... don't take the risk. Make sure din, if you are bringing a laptop, na walang pirated software or movie.
Nope - mas riskier to download via torrent here - the authorities can ask your internet provider to send them the list of people using that service and either send you a warning, or if the owner of that content requests the info so they can sue you. Mabilis nga ang internet - but walang "privacy" of communications - unlike sa Pinas you have a law.

Everything is traceable here - you have a SIN, your name is listed on a mobile phone account, credit checks, etc. - and the authorities can easily match information to who was doing what, when.

Shared-sites or "file-locker" sites, or those with a paid membership and access restrictions?

Nevertheless, here is the gist - if your internet traffic profile suggests you are frequently visiting, using identified sites where illegal activity has been reported, then your name is flagged. Wide ang spread ng "illegal activity" - it can cover unauthorized transfer of content amonst other things.

Hindi ibig sabihin nun huhulihin ka agad, pero magiging "marker" sa iyo yun. If there are policies sa ISP mo regarding these - makakatanggap ka ng letter telling you that the sites you frequent are reported sites where these activities happen. Hindi mo naman gusto na nasa "radar" ka na ng mga authorities right?

Ragluf: Thanks for sharing this info. Do they have a list of "not to visit sites" as a reference? It is better to be safe than sorry. Gamer kasi hubby ko so marami syang site na pinupuntahan...

Done with medicals for me and my daughter, pero si wifey di nakunan ng X-Ray kc buntis. Pano po ba mag inform sa CEM na di na complete ni misis medical nya? Pwd ba mag email dun sa MANILIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca? Ano ba kailangan isama sa email? Or may format pa? Or may naka experience na po ba nito? Thanks po sa magrereply...

OT: Online gaming sites are fine - there is a bigger online gaming community in North America, and that included online poker. Generally stay away from "Megaupload"-type sites (demonoid etc.), and think very very very hard when downloading content such as movies, etc. - tracking is very much done here in NA.

So likely - deferred ang medical results. Although hindi mo na kailangan pa inform ang RMO, I'd recommend it so hindi ka dependent on the clinic informing the RMO of the deferral. Use the email address kung saan nanggagaling ang mga correspondence sa iyo and send it to the VO - no format, but just inform them that:
- the IME has been conducted on <date> at <clinic name> by <Physician name>
- IMEs have been done on <name>
- IMEs are incomplete for <name> due to pregnancy

See here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/partner/pp/pdf/handbook-extract.pdf
Since eMedical na ang clinic mo - well they (the clinic) will also inform CIC or your VO.

Did not have any problem bringing mine. Depends on how large the HDD is - better put it in the checked-in baggage. The more things accessible, the more things that can pique interest during inspection, so lessen the things that clutter your handcarry.

Just stay away from DVDs and censored* content on the laptop computer - so remove anything of that sort on the laptop HDD. You are landing and immigrating for the first time, so unless there is reason to have you and your belongings inspected further, they may not even reach the point they have to take a look at the contents of your baggage and external HDD.

Ragluf: Thank you so much sa mga tips and info. I think these are the things that most of us in this thread should know in advance.

Ask ko lang, what about ung mga online streaming ng mga pinoy channels and Korean novela sites like (telebyuwers, pinoyako, viki.com etc.) hindi rin ba advisable to visit those sites? Pasensya na medyo mark ulit lang talaga ;)
