Nuon nasa Europe ako, if I travel about, ang style ko is meron akong maliit na water bottle for washing talaga. Meron at meron na magagawang paraan yan. hahaha

For those already in Canada, may I ask where you bought your CAD$?

I tried asking a money exchange dealer but they only sell US$, they said if no one exchanges CAD$ with them, they can't sell any. Haven't tried other money exchange yet but if any of you know a good money exchange, please advise.

TIA
Not a lot of banks do provide 3rd currency services, so nahirapan din ako maghanap on the outset. $USD na dinala ko, anyway cents ang difference ng palitan pagdating sa Canada..

Hi All,

Anyone who experienced sending their
passports to CEM for visa stamping from overseas
and then returned via international
courier collect.

How long did it take to return
your passports?

Thanks.

Milsrome
Around 1 1/2 months from date of sending to CEM. Around 7 days for parcel delivery from CAN to CEM, then around 7 business days from CEM to CAN. In between, was the time the PPs were with CEM. Was not asked to pay the courier fee BTW.

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light here.

I have submitted my application last Nov 27, 2013. Got AOR Jan 15, 2014, up to now still no emails re: MR. Also, is there a way to check which VO my application was forwarded? I specified Manila in my applications, but considering my current location, they may have sent it to Dubai or AUH for processing which I've heard takes forever.

My husband and I are considering getting pregnant soon, and we said we can after MR results have been submitted. The longer we wait for MR the longer we had to hold onto getting pregnant as we do not want any issues with MR results if I am already pregnant when we take the Medical.

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks much

Diba lugi kung US$ ang bilhin? Kung cents lang ang difference. Pwede sa mga money exchange pero magpapa-reserve 1-3 days before. I won't buy much CAD$ na lang.

Hindi naman - right now:
1.00 USD = 1.10584 CAD
US Dollar ↔ Canadian Dollar
1 USD = 1.10584 CAD 1 CAD = 0.904291 USD

So may malaki ang palit ng USD into CAD. So para makaiwas ka sa malalaking transaction rates kapag nagpapalit ka, open a bank account, i-deposit mo ang USD mo sa bank account mo, and then withdraw it as CAD. Banks here accept USD deposits and convert to CAD.

Kaya it pays to declare the amount na dala mo sa Customs, sometimes kung nagdeposit ka ng cash na malaki ang halaga (upwards of $2000 will elicit some scrutiny), hihingan ka ng proof or declaration sa customs nung ipinasok mo ang pera. Part of regulations on money laundering and cross-border flows of cash. Oftentimes, telling them new immigrant ka and showing a CoPR (habang wala pa ang PR Card) will prove that you brought the money in Canada legitimately. If the deposit is exceeding 10K cash/combined, a Customs declaration should be shown and likely asked by the bank officers.

Kung di mo naman madadala lahat ng pera mo, then you can try to see if your local bank has facilities for money transfer like Western Union. Then ipadala mo paunti-unti ang pera mo, and draw it from Western Union outlets (and the like) dito sa Canada. iRemit is another one for money transfers.

Take it this way - for financial transactions, mas prefer ng banks na me paper trail - credit cards, debit cards, checks. Madaling ma-trace ang source and transactions detail. Cash transactions with financial institutions, medyo alanganin kasi they don't know the source of the funds, kaya magtatanong. Since kasi hindi traceable, ang assumption is me dahilan bakit itinatago :).

That's fine, I plan to withdraw cash through ATM in Canada. Most of my show money is from a UK bank account. I don't really want to withdraw them from here (from GBP to PHP) then buy USD$ then change them CAD$ in Canada. Sobrang lugi na ako. :o :o :o

If I am not taking with me during my landing CAD$10,000, should I still declare CAD$10,000 with the intention of withdrawing them little by little?

Hi polay_ph,
You can send email to: CIO-Sydney-Search-Enquiry@cic.gc.ca.
Based on my experience, I emailed them when I received my CIO-AOR to confirm where my files were transferred for further processing. At that time, me & my hubby planned na hindi na kami magrerenew ng contract d2 sa Dubai, at pa transfer na lang sana files from ADVO to CEM. Nag reply naman sila na transferred to ADVO files namin. We need to work while waiting so hindi na kami nag try na palipat sana visa office.

hello to all, sir ragluf,

can you share us your experiences on declaring money at the airport? for example i will be carrying USD6000 and CAD$7000. sum of the money that i will be carrying is around CAD$13k.

what are being asked by the airport here at NAIA and in Vancouver? did you experienced customs asking for documents where you get the money? if yes, what are the documents that we need to show them? kinakabahan pa ako sa NAIA customs natin kesa dun sa Vancouver e...

really appreciate for those who will share their experiences.
