Sir Ragluf, regarding the experience of kelotz, is this the norm or the exception?

I ask this because I was advised by my brother-in-law who is also our sponsor that we must have funds upon landing in Canada, similar to the funds we have presented in the proof of fund section in the MPNP. I am wary of the notion of bringing more than 10k CAD (we are a family of 5), whether cash or cheque. Unlike kelotz though, I do not have a job offer but my sponsor is my husband's brother (I am the principal applicant) so would it be wise to just bring what funding we can afford?

Hi,

Can't say this is the norm - but this is not the exception (as per my experience and as described by kelotz and that of others who have successfully landed and posted their landing experiences). I can say the rules for PoF are relaxed with respect to PNP immigrants.

Here should be previous posts referring to the PoF for PNP as you asked. The first two pertain to one forum member who asked and her landing experience.

You may want to ask your sponsor if he came via FSW route (where the PoF is explicity specified) or PNP (where there are no guidelines for PoF and all PNP landing experiences posted in this Forum does not show any challenge or strict adherence required at PoE during Landing).

My opinion on why there is no strict guidelines for PoF for PNP:

Thanks a lot, Sir. I have a better idea now and I will just discuss this with my husband as he has a different opinion regarding the funds. God bless you, Sir and many blessings to you! :)

Good to know you don't have issues travelling through the US. Generally going through the US is much cheaper as you have lots of alternatives - you are flying via Continental right? The main hindrance is the need for a transit visa.

Thanks a lot. That does mean that i can still land direct to Winnipeg. There are conflicting opinions regarding landing for first time immigrants. Some seniors said that there are certain port of entry specifically for landing for first time immigrants such as vancouver, or toronto as there are immigration officers stationed to this port area to assist the first time immigrants.

Accordingly, there are immigration officers in winnipeg but these officers are not detailed to assist the landing process of first time immigrants unlike in vancouver and toronto.

I can still change our itinerary but i will loose more or less couple of thousand of US dollars in changing the route. I got a promo fare non refundable but I can change the route to go tru vancouver then winnipeg but with additional charge. I will not use the segment from chicago to winnipeg, instead i can buy another ticket from chicago to vancouver then winnipeg. It defeated my purpose of getting the cheapest price :( ??? :'(. There are 5 of us traveling.

I am flying via united airlines. The continental airline you mentioned above has merged with united airlines. You appears to be a well traveled person.

regards,

Explore

I suggest you follow this guideline: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EP7TOC.asp

There is also a document checklist that you can download. Just complete that checklist and you can never go wrong.

Good luck.
