Hi kelotz!
Good luck and God bless for your new home!

Thanks kelotz for sharing your experience. Seems very straightforward and quick landing. How about customs? Oh, and which airport did you land? Vancouver?
Thanks for that custom question.

The 2nd immigration officer will return back the following documents:

- Passports (with the stamp of entry and they will put a big sign on the immigrant visa)
- Copy of the COPR (with the sign of the Immigration Officer and also with your sign)
- Declaration Form (which given by the cabin crew earlier)

Upon exit in the customs, there is no scanning. They will just collect the Declaration Form.

That's it. You may now proceed to the taxi if Vancouver is your destination
Otherwise proceed to domestic departure for your connecting flight, this time a scanning will be done and checking the weight of the check-in luggage.

Quick tips for faster process in this point:
- Separate your laptop/tablet or other battery operated device (hand carry only) because they will scan it. Don't worry they will not check the files.
- A weight of 23kg below for the check-in luggage is a must. They are strict in the capacity of luggage (Air Canada)

Yes, my point of entry is Vancouver. I arrived 2pm in the aiport then went to nearby hotel because my next domestic flight will be on the next day. Difficult to stay on the airport overnight specially we have a kid.

Thanks kelotz, this is really informative (+1). And will make sure that my luggage won't exceed 23kgs. Still waiting for MR, 25 days and counting.

no problem with that, mine was 18 hours waiting time for the next flight to Calgary. so we went to a nearest hotel outside Vancouver airport.

hi sir ragluf, thanks for always answering my queries. BTW i have question again if you dont mind, after receiving our PP with visa (Family/Immigrant) we received email regarding "Free Pre-Arrival Employment & Settlement Session at CIIP! ". Is this cumpolsary like PDOS? This is the email from CEM that we received.

"Free Pre-Arrival Employment & Settlement Session at CIIP! ".

As part of your employment and settlement preparations to Canada, register as soon as possible at the Canadian Immigrant Integration Program (CIIP). CIIP conducts sessions in Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, and Dipolog.

Funded by the Government of Canada, CIIP sessions are offered to you free of charge.

Whether your aim is to work in a regulated or non-regulated profession in Canada, CIIP will provide guidance and offer support pre-arrival. By attending CIIP, you will be referred directly to Canadian Immigrant Serving Organisations and Educational Institutions who will provide you support BEFORE you go to Canada, specifically related to your destination and career choice.

CIIP will guide you through the integration process while still in the Philippines and then following arrival in Canada. The session will provide an overview of trends in the Canadian economy, as well as a focus on labour market prospects in the province of destination. Presentations on opportunities are balanced by an examination of labour market and settlement challenges, and options for addressing these challenges are discussed. The day concludes with a session on job-searching in the Canadian environment.

Preparation is the key to your success. As soon as you are in the medical stage, or have your visa already, you are advised to contact CIIP and secure a spot in an upcoming session.

Voluntary ang CIIP... Para sa akin a must na maka attend kayo kasi very informative ang session... Bigbigyan ka ng overview about your future home away from home, how to land a job, access on schools if you want to further your studies, how to make canadian resumes, and a lot more... tapos free of charge pa!... :)
