Bro please consider this premise/instruction from CEM.

•Please ensure that the validity of your passport(s) is at least six (6) months beyond this validity date (note that any passport received with a shorter validity than the date shown above will result in a reduced validity for entry to Canada for all members of your family, if any). You must submit your passport(s) within 30 days of the date of this letter or your application may be refused for non-compliance according to Subsection 16(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Please note that no further requests will be sent to you.

I suggest pa renew ka na lang ng passport mo para dika maalangan habang may time kapa..since 1 buwan lang naman or 15 days ma-release ng DFA basta pakiusapan mo na lang na may visa stamping for canada, para ma expedite.

As I mentioned yung validity ng visa ko ay upto July 30, 2014 so that simply means na yung passport ko ay dapat di mag expire or mababa ng January 2014. Well and good dahil 2017 pa ang expiration so hindi makaka apekto pag pinasa ko na sa CEM.

hi ad,

i agree with cardinal. it will be better if you will renew your passport asap. better go to main DFA ,because it will only take you 15days for renewal. i renewed my family's passport in DFA Batangas, kaya medyo inabot ng more than a month.

Med's Done mo ay last 05-11-2013, it will take you more than a month before your PPR.

Ang sa akin ay meds done ko was last 23-10-2013, my ecas is in-process and expecting for my
PPR within 2 more weeks.

mas madedelay ka pag nag gamble ka. just a friendly advice. :)

I could only imagine what you are feeling right now... excited, thinking of the new place, new adventure... but also concern of what will be the future ahead...

Goodluck to you... to all of us.

A lot of airports wouldn't allow anyone to board plane if their passport's validity is less than six months even if he has valid visa from country of destination. A friend of mine experience denial of boarding going to Bahrain because of passport validity even if he explained he will be staying there just for a couple of days.

I would suggest for you and your family to submit newly renewed passport to avoid any unnecessary hassles. Ok, let's say you got your PR visa and travel February or March but still you need to renew your passport while in Canada, which you might encounter some hassles and might be costly.

Ok lang dre, batchmate nga ulit tayo. You're CIO application was ahead just by 1 week, they received my application on November 8.

I have my timeline included in "MPNP Application Batch 2013" c/o 02clar3nc325. They are tracking CIO application separately. You can have your timeline included there. Yes, lately applicants received their AOR from CIO within a month. Hopefully, ganon din ang application natin. At sana Manila din and VO natin. Goodluck sa atin dre!

Thanks guys for the advice regarding passport renewal...got to find somebody working in DFA to endorse my application so that I can get a new one after a week. ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the info GKarl...but have to go to DFA main because it's only there, they have the "Courtesy Lane". Any DFA employee can make 3 referrals per month in order for me to have a new passport within 7 working days!

Hi Ragluf!

Just for further clarification... CEM requires validity of passport 6 months beyond the validity of medical exams (BTW, SLEC sent the results 11.11.2013). As per your clarification...since my passport expires in August, CEM will provide me (as well as my family) visas co-terminus with my passport validity. Is my understanding correct?

To those who received visas already, please advise whether the validity of your visa is corresponding with your medical exams validity.

By the time you read this there have been lots of advise on this - year-end is approaching so lots of things to tie up at work :)

Anyway - yes the advise would be to put as much leeway between the date of your passports expiry and your MR date. This makes the decision on the expiry date of your visas much easier. There is much latitude given the VOs to decide here - on whether reducing the validity date or maintaining it.

There have been some posts that saw a reduction in their visa validity due to less than 6 months remaining before the validity of their passports - but I found that to be in the extreme (their PPs were to expire a few months after visa stamping date - so naturally the validity was reduced). In other cases - (see below) - it was borderline (5 months between visa expiry date and passport expiry).
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/timeline-for-filipinos-submitted-pnppr-applctions-at-cio-t93206.0.html;msg2052210#msg2052210

In my case, my visa validity date was one year from medicals (04/25/13), and I had my PPs renewed a year earlier, and sent an update/notice of passport change to CEM after I had our PPs renewed 05/12.

As to the 6month rule for airlines - if your destination is a country other than that of where you are a citizen of - usually airlines prohibit boarding (i.e. boarding for a flight to Canada when you are only a resident). This is relaxed when you are returning to the country where you are a citizen of (i.e. returning to Manila).

Thanks a LOT Ragluf!
