Hello guys, allowed ba ang boxes for check in? If yes, what size? Di ko ma maximize yung 23kgs sa maleta ko sayng naman. Flight ko this may 10. Thanks

sabi sa akin ng SIL ko ganun din gawin ko ..mag balikbayan box instead of luggage para sulit, kesa mag luggage.
i guess yung nabibiling balikbayan boxes will do?
may nabili si SIL na cover ng balikbayan box to protect the box itself.. gawa sa makapal na synthetic fabric sa ace daw nya nabili

Hi,

Boxes are fine. But make sure they fall under the restrictions in weight (23 kgs) and in total sum of dimensions (L + W + H). Each airline has its own restrictions on the total dimensions and weight allowed for checked in baggage.

For example - PAL - see here: http://www.philippineairlines.com/products_and_services/all_about_baggage/free_baggage_allowance/free_baggage_allowance_pal.jsp

See the note: To/From Vancouver and Las Vegas
1 piece at 50lbs (23 kgs) Should not be more than 62 in (158cm)

So total dimension of the box you plan to use should not exceed 62 in. A box 24" x 18" x 18" = 60 in, and falls under the restriction (< 62 in) and is OK.

For CX - http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_CA/helpingyoutravel/checkedbaggage#WP
See the note:
Piece System – for Central, North and South Americas
Economy: 23kg (50lbs)
Total dimensions of each piece must not exceed 158cm (62in)

Sometimes there is some leeway on some airlines on the number of pieces of free bagage allowance for new immigrants - you may want to check with your travel agent/airline to make sure.

Yup meron sa ACE - and sa Divisoria din meron. Protection for the box, at di na kailangan ng medyo makapal na karton.

But yung 23kgs - can be maximized sa malalaking maleta. Yung 28" tall na luggage pag puno exceeds 23kgs.

The only drawback ng paggamit ng kahon is - sa North America - considered na oversized luggage ang balikbayan box - so ibang baggage counter minsan kailangan i-claim at madalas, automatic subject to x-ray agad, not to mention mainit sa mata ng mga customs officials. Make sure complete ang declaration and bring a list of items inside your box, just in case you are asked by customs officials.

Hello po,

Children below 12 years of age are not required to attend PDOS.
Is it necessary to fill a PDOS form for children below 12?

For those who have attended CIIP, is this really necessary and beneficial?

Thanks,

unique,
we attended the CIIP seminar.
for me it is very beneficial..
1. you will know the province better from this seminar.
2. they will provide you with links to help you in finding; jobs suited to your qualifications, housing, school for the kids, bridging programs, with your resume, etc..;.
3. you gain new friends.. :) the CIIP seminar is grouped by province.. so the people who attends it with you can become your start up group there, more network :)

Thanks Leah,

What province are planning to settle?
When are you planning land?

Hi,

See here:

The following applicants are not required to pay the RPRF:
- dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild;
- protected persons, including Convention refugees.

Dependent children
Refers to the children of the applicant or those of the spouse or common-law partner.
They must:
- be under the age of 22 and not have a spouse or common-law partner, or
- depend substantially on the financial support of a parent and have been continuously enrolled and in attendance as full-time students in a post-secondary institution accredited by the relevant government authority since before the age of 22 (or since marrying or entering into a common-law relationship, if this happened before the age of 22), or
- depend substantially on the financial support of a parent since before the age of 22 and be unable to provide for themselves due to a medical condition.

hi paperdolls,
We're on the same boat :). i think this one from CIIP is only voluntary and can be taken as early as you receive your medical request. its different with the PDOS from the Commission on Filipino Overseas which is mandatory to all imigrants and can only by taken after you receive your visa.
