Hi,

Mind putting more details - which PNP program and under what class? When did you have medicals? Also, were you instructed to undergo medical tests as part of medical reassessment or this was just a for your information (in response to an inquiry).

To summarize, medical reassessment is triggered by the VO on your file; the evaluator is asking the Medical Officer for a reassement which will in-turn, result in the issuance of a new medical certificate. This is between the VO and the RMO and is due to:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/medic/assess/cert.asp

The process applies only to cases where a final decision is pending due to either:

the expiration of a medical certificate; or,
when the validity of the medical certificate is about to expire and the applicant is unable to land before it expires.

And I am assuming this application was via an agency - just based on how long this is taking - is this right? Normally, PNP applicants (much true for CEM) do not have their medicals near expiry before a final decision is made - the process is long done before the medical certificate expiry, and applicants get their DMs with enough time before the medical expiry.

Considering I see in your previous posts medical was completed (no date of medicals received to the VO) 27 Nov 2013, the visa validity date expected is 1 year from the date of medicals received (eCAS line) - assuming 27 Nov 2014. Between today and 27 Nov, it will be too short a period to:
- issue a PPR to the applicant
- have the passports sent to the VO
- have the visas and CoPRs affixed to the passport, and printed.
- send the package back to the applicant
- have the applicant land before visa expiry (you are looking at a 1 month visa validity in this case)

Remember there is still a queue, so - looking at the timelines - mabibitin ka sa oras. I'd agree with the VO in this point, as it looks na gusto nyang kumuha ng added time for you to enable landing at much more relaxed period. To do that, he needs to get an extension, and this is via a medical reassessment. The medical certificate resulting from that reassessment will then have a later expiry date, so the visa validity can now follow the new medical certificate expiry, resulting into more time for you to land.

As to how long - no idea, considering this is very uncommon. I'd ask your agency to regularly follow-up with the VO.

.../hth

Hi Rosy:

The checklist and CIC website states:

"Starting July 1, 2012, most Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applicants for semi- and low-skilled occupations that fall under National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Levels C and D will have to undergo mandatory language testing and achieve a minimum standard of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 in English or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) level 4 in French across all four categories: listening, speaking, reading and writing."

It is not mandatory for NOC skill levels O, A & B but it will not hurt if you attach a copy of your IELTS (even it is expired).
