No not yet we just got all this info yesterday and my husband is going to fax me the papers that he picked up today, so I can read over them and see what they want. They obviously want something important otherwise they wouldn't have help up the process for so long. Crossing my fingers that it will be easy to provide.

Hi all,

Probably stupidly, I did not send in the RFRP with my application. Nontheless, I received the request to pay in the next 30 days on Friday, so I did that online, and will send the proof to them tomorrow.

I read that this can slow the application process. Does this mean that they wont continue in Guatemala until they have the proof? I was actually surprised because my AOR was just 6 weeks ago. I read that usually the RFRP fee is done later in the process, but I cant imagine being "late" in the process just yet (ie. getting the PPR anytime soon)

Did anyone ever pay the RFRP after the app. was sent in as I did, and how long after was PPR etc?

My husband sent his in last week. How long ago did you send yours?

I wish that we did not have to go through this office. They seem very slow. Good luck. i hope that you hear something soon. We only recently sent ours in so it will be a long wait for us.

My wife was asked for Passport, Wedding and Birthcerts via mail on Oct 11th, however the date was Sept 8th on the letter of request. They are giving us 90 days

We are coming back from our honeymoon (she needs her passport) on Dec 5th. If I couldnt Sept 8th as Day 1 - then Dec 6th is day #90.

Since the letter states within 90 days - it has me a bit stressed out.

Thus: we 1) faxed a letter to ask for a couple days of extension and/or at least to verify that handing the docs in on Dec 6th will be OK (Oct 12), then 2) we emailed a similar email since we hadnt heard back (Oct 17).

On Oct 22, we received the response to our email (not to fax), which did NOT answer what we were asking! The response is below:


Thank you for your electronic message.

Our system shows that the following documents are still pending:

-Your original passport
-Your original birth certificate and marriage certificate issued by civil Registry

So - again, I'm worried that they felt that this was an "answer". We created a more simplified fax to send which we will do so tomorrow AM. However, I am worried about the correspondence (ie. Will they respond? When will they? etc.etc.)

My question is: is this the best way of handling this? What methods have you used to correspond with the Guate embassy?

Obviously I am not try to ask questions on my status etc., but want to know if Dec 6th will be a day that we can bring the docs in without delay (and add a day or two if possible to extend just in case of flight delays etc).

Any suggestions?

I got news
the CIC Mississauga send me a letter to confirm the RPRF was processed already and the payment information was sent to VO in Guatemala, I know they needed 6 weeks to process the Payment so, anybody here know how long they will take to issue the visa?

Hey stevedominic I received the same letter, I paid here in Canada on Sept 8, and last week CIC Mississauga sent me another letter to confirm the payment was processed and the payment information was sent to OV Guatemala, something similar happened to u guys? ... or any idea how long we have to wait more thanks in advance.

Hi Osiris,

After Mississaugua sent word to Guatemala that we had paid our fee(in March 2010) it was about 2 months (May 19th) that they sent sent more correspondence to us with instructions on what to do next. They will also send your spouse that you are sponsoring a letter stating that they have recieved the fee and will contact him within 4 month.
My advice is if you do not here anything from them in that period of time follow up with them via fax and email. If they do not respond it does always help to use your local MP to get information from them.

This is a nice site to compare how things are going with the whole process. The forum is great for questions but this other site really sums up the days and the process quite nicely. It would be nice to have more people put their info on the site. Some of us are already there as you will see.

My info is already on Trackitt. Did you have to do a criminal record check in canada?

I am Pigger on Trackitt. I knew you had your info there but I was wondering about some of the others. I know Stevedominic is there too.

Since my wife has never lived, never even been to Canada, she was not required to do the Canadian criminal checks/fingerprints.

I don't know what else to say at this point. WE are in waiting mode. It is hard, but things could be worse. We have come a long way since a year ago when she didn't even have a passport.

HI JazzyJaz We got news, The VO called my husband to inform him he has the interview on November 17th, we are so nervous about the questions since we going under Conjugal partner category, My partner was denied his Visitor visa last year.
So we are preparing additional proofs of our relationship and I contacted my MP who send a letter last month to enquire the time when the VO will be concluding the application. Hope everything will be okey we are prying ??? BTW on September we did pay the RPRF and 2 weeks a go they send me a letter here in Canada confirming the payment and that they sent the payment information to VO in Guatemala. ??? he are happy but nervous, DO you have any idea about the questions they ask at the interview??? THANKS !!!
