Hi gigab,

Did you guys send fingerprints to immigration yet? if so then thats probably what it is, if not then I'm not sure. I think everyone does have the criminal record check. You can contact your MP directly rather than having your representative contact them if you prefer, thats what i did, although i did talk to my lawyer first. I hope everything goes well for you!

Hi,

As I remember, we sent the fingerprints and medical stuff (well kinda everything they needed) with the PR's papers. A few months later, they sent us a letter asking to get more stuff, and another criminal thing that was updated. So we sent it again.

I was wondering, my husband did his medical check up on nov. 13 of last year. We sent the papers in december in Canada, and they received everything in january in Guatemala. Are the medical papers still good after one year? If yes, well that's good. If no, he will have to do everything again?

Are the guys in Guatemala trying to give an answer before this limit one-year time? Or they don't care at all?

Ok thanks and still good luck to everyone!

Mrs. Casanova Thanks for the reply.
But they did not ask for fingerprints only for passports, POF and court certificates.
I really don't know If I can contact my MP because I live in Honduras, And I belive you can only do this inside Canada.

I know it is really late, but I was informed of approval to sponsor via email. I gave my email address as a representative of my wife.

However, when it came to her AOR I just kept checking ecas everyday and one day I saw that it was updated with her info and it said that they (guate) had received the application. We received a letter in the mail a week or two later.

Hi Gigab!
I am in the same situation as you! Same visa office and same issue trouble...
I was requested to send my passport in May....they were officially submitted until the 2nd of June...
Presently still waiting for them; I sent an email to the embassy in Guatemala asking if they received my passport, which they confirm having with all the documentations asked, and saying that the file was still under processing and they will not be able to finalize it within the next three months. No more documents were required, it was just a just a matter of time. ;)
( This was a response I got in August 24 / 2010, as I see it... 3 month of my passport in their possesion and three more to go!...lol)

Hi Alic
It's great to find people from Honduras. I see we have almost the same timelines. You were lucky they answered and say that they will take 3 more months because when thay answered my email they never mentioned times.
Wow this is unbelievable takin 6 months to issue a visa. Why are they taking that much time? From what I see we will receive our passports in December.
I really wouldn't like to arrive in the cold winter but our meds expire in April, so our plans are kind of ruin since we wanted to arrive by late September.
Are you applying under FSW or Family Class?

FYI - in the letter that my wife received from the embassy in Guatemala to tell her that the process has started - it mentions that IF they are to request anything from here, it will be done within four months.

I was surprised that they put a date like that, had anyone else received something similar before from the Guate embassy, and did they follow the date that was said?

Seems promising, however, with all the applicants that have sent in their passports months ago, also it seems like it could be a looooong wait!

Thx

Hey!

I went to see my MP yesterday (again!!). First, I contact her in march to ask her what was going on, then she replied that they were gonna ask us some more infos (which happened a few days later). Then I went to see her at the end of june, because they the ambassy had a recall for us at the end of may, and I wanted to know if they needed some more papers, and she told me, mid-july, that they haven't had checked the papers still and the recall date was at the end of july.

So yesterday, I went to see her AGAIN! Just to know what's up? I hate these things about not telling what's going on... anyway, she wasn't there, so I spoke with the little secretary there and she told me that we can only ask for an update each 3 months, because if we call too much they get pissed off at the ambassy then leave our papers on a shelf to make us wait more time...... But she still took my name, even if I only had news 2 months ago (and not 3), but anyway the MP is so busy that I might have some news only by mid-october... when our baby's born!! Do you think i'm overacting with this MP thing?

The thing is that I know that we are still in the "normal delays", but these are crazy delays!!! It's not like in other countries, that you can have an answer within 6/7/8/10 months. I mean, 10 months is not that bad, it's not even a year, you can survive and make mid-term projects, but with 18 months delays? I was telling her: if he's not there when my baby's born, I will be like: should I rent my apartment and meet him in central america? And for how long? 1 month? 10 months?

Anyway maybe it's driving me more crazy today because it's been 4 months I haven't seen my husband and the baby's due in 30 days ayyyyyyyyy!!!! :)

So I'll tell you later what's up with the MP..! Luck luck luck!!!

Hello PMM

I am a costarican and Guatemala office is processing my papers since march 19 2010 , as a conjugal partner, I have wanted to e-mail them so much, since we haven't heard a word from them ever since the approved my boyfriend's sponsorship. They haven't even requested any documents as some people in the forum mentioned.

Is it a good Idea to e-mail them? will that be good or bad ? what should we say ? how long is this office taking, are the time lines in the website close t the reality ? I've notice they said the take 7 months for the 30% of the cases ....or is this office taking like a year or two to process the family class?

Thanks a lot for your response
