I stand corrected :)

Have recently applied through Guatemala, though not for PR--study permit for me (U.S. citizen, PR of Nicaragua) and work permit for my common-law partner (Nicaraguan citizen).

Docs were sent by DHL from Nicaragua and received in Guatemala Mon. 12 July.

Today 29 July received forms for medical exams and a request for additional information from me (sent DHL collect from embassy).

Can anyone confirm approximate time for processing of medicals in Port of Spain? I've read elsewhere that it runs at least 30 days.

I was originally hoping to start my study program in September but I strongly suspect I will have to defer until January.

This whole process is so nerve-wracking!!!

Ojala, Dios quiera que todos podamos cumplir nuestros suenos y llegar hasta Canada...

Hi everyone,

We sent our app to CIC Mississauga on June 25th. It was approved about a month later around the 27th of July and the rest of the app is now in Guatemala... in process as of 6th of August.

I am sponsoring my wife who is from Honduras.

Hi Salparadise - congrats!

Quick question- did you receive an email or letter in the mail that your application was in Guate now? Based on your timeframe, mine should be anytime now then.

Cheers, and good luck.

Hi Karyne22:
Please check my timelines . I started my application July6th and passports were asked on May 6th. I'm still waiting for passports to be sent with visa. I think Guatemala started moving my application very fast but at this last part of the process I felt it's being years. I think they are moving very slow. But then again my application is for FSW category.
I think timelines for sponsors are faster than for federal skilled workers.

Hi gigab,

Thanks for the answer, I haven't cheked out the timelines..!

Yeah I guess it's faster if you are sponsored by your family, which is our case, I'm sponsering my husband. Hopefuly, he'll be here before the birth of our kid!

hi everyone,

i have applied for my husbands pr last year, they started processing it in september, asked for his passport in january and we are waiting on the criminal record check now. Anyone with a similar timeline?

Hi Mrs Casanova!

Just a quick question: how do you know that they are actualy checking the criminal records? Is there any way to know it?

Also another question for everybody: when I check my husband's status online (with CIC.gc.ca) it says we are currently in process, and when I click on it, it just says: we've started to process MR. X status on jan. 13 of 2010. And nothing else.... Are we suppose to get more infos with the cic.gc.ca online status? Are they telling us that the medical records are done or some other stuff??

Thx!

Karine

Hi Karine,

the process was taking too long so i had my MP contact them, thats how I know. They emailed my MP back saying they were waiting on the RCMP crim record check.

My status says (or my husbands rather) says the same thing, I dont think they update it til its been accepted or denied.

awwwww!!! Ok then, thx!!

Not sure if you realized (I hadnt until now), but the Guate processing times for spouses have improved. The latest sample set are from the dates: July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/05-fc-spouses.asp

Shows that the 30%/50/70/80 is now at 7,10,15,18 months. I recall the 50% date to be 11 months last I checked, and the 80% at 19 months.

Hope that trend continues - good luck all.

Hi!!

Yeah I noticed that a month ago, yeah we won a month! aahahha

Do you have any new infos about your PR status?

I have no updates on ours :( still waiting for RCMP record check ....so slow

!

Hello Mrs Casanova:

I read your post on the reason why they are delaying your passports. For me it's kind of a relief knowing this. Probably that's the reason for my case too. But is just incredible they take so long. Do you know If everyone has to go through this criminal record check or if is just for certain countries?
I e mail my representative to ask them to get in contact with an MP I hope I can do it too!
