Hi everyone
Another update. I sent off my passport on 27th June and I have just had it back this morning with the visa and COPR.
Wow! It's really happening now!
Thanks again everyone
Oliver
Congratulations Oliver. After a shaky start, all seems to have gone very smoothly and quick for you. You must have had the Immigration Gods looking after you! Enjoy your new life in Canada. September will be here before you know it!

Yep, we went the postal route as we live quite far away from London. I was very surprised with the speed!
Thanks
Ollie

Wow, they received mine the 29th but mine's being sent back to Canada, damn it I knew I should have sent it to my parents in England!

Maybe they've sped up now and you'll get it back soon.
Fingers crossed :)

..and Jaffa Cakes. I do miss Jaffa Cakes.

I would advise beef crips too, there's none of that here. Beef McCoys!

Major finger and toe crossage going on here because we're hoping to get a flight to visit the UK for the bank holiday at the end of August and they keep jumping up and down in price. Trying the US airways route you mentioned and it seems to be brining up better prices! I shall drop you an e-mail tomorrow, there's been lots going on :D

Yep, just keep an eye on the prices. I booked my flights home for christmas last week, so am excited about that.
Keep checking on air transat/canadian affair aswell. They have offers on every so often.
When you say end of august, do you mean labour day on Sept 5th, or the UK bank holiday? (They aren't called bank holidays here. Say bank holiday and you'll get the "whaaaaat?" response, haha!)

Eswiz I miss jaffa cakes too!!! But i found something similar, i forget what they're called though. they make a raspberry version too.

Awww brilliant, I bet it's great knowing you have a visit planned and sorted...and it will be nice and simple getting back in the country!

haha actually I mean UK bank holiday and labour day too. Are they statutory hols here? We're looking to go over both of them, it's not the cheapest time to fly but heyho - hopefully having to book close to the time will work in our favour! I need to land anyway, and lots of my family and friends are off work and free at that time too. And I guess it kinda makes sense doing it now because I imagine I would have a hard time convincing a new employer to let me take ten days off 2months into a role eeeek!

Just holidays I think, but if you go on holiday thats vacation. You take vacation. Its scary how easily those words trip off my tongue now.
Toronto is really PC aswell, sometimes you say happy christmas and people look stunned that you said the word christmas, its almost frowned upon. Its "Happy Holidays", and it really annoys me!

Don't leave flight booking too last minute, sometimes the prices fly up if you leave it too late.
I just checked the flights on airtransat, wow its steep!

Can you please add me to the spreadsheet pinklady. Our application was received on June 1st, 2011 in Mississauga and I was accepted as a sponsor today, July 11th, 2011. Our application is now London, UK bound!

Many thanks!

Did they email you or did you get something in the mail?

Phew! Just got my app sent off - man, what a huge weight off my shoulders!!!
I had to work 3 days in a row with little sleep as my UK police certificate expires tomorrow! They should get my form tomorrow though.

But... do they take the 3 months from the date the certificate was "Created" or the date it was "Printed"?
Mine was created on 11/4, but printed on 13/4. My logic is, if it wasn't printed, it wasn't officially issued.

Well, I'm really hoping they take it from the 13/4 and they will get my form on 13/7.

How's everybody doing?

My application was filed 3 months and 3 days after my UK police cert was issued and they never asked for another one. I've now landed.

Well done for sending it off - such a massive weight has been lifted off your shoulders. Now the hard part...the wait.

Good luck

Hey there, thanks very much for that!
That was so encouraging to hear - I was in a bit of a panik..

Congratulations on your landing!
I already live in Canada with my Canadian wife, so the wait is going to be a lot easier than completing the form!
