I had this problem, and therefore ended up in tears because of the very first Canadian I had ever met, the first time I'd ever entered the country. He told me there was no such thing as outland common law sponsorship. And said I was just sit on my ass and live off my boyfriend. He told me sponsorship applications take well over a year, and that I would get deported after my 6months was up (I was requested an extension as soon as I arrived due to my application, as I'd heard some people had be granted it) He was horrid, and had me thinking I was totally wrong about my whole application. I remember his face though, how could I forget that after I'd waited in a queue for 2hours after a flight from the UK. Maybe I will wave my COPR in his pudgey little face when I re-land next month ;DIndividualLikeEveryoneEls said:I too have had negative experiences with Canadian IOs. Whether they are 'nice' is largely irrelevant if they do not know the legislation they are enforcing. In two cases with me, they have been 'nice' but have misunderstood immigration law.
