Charno - just to add to your post from a few days ago, there's a question addressing this in the FAQ. It's written in the section for when you're applying instead of getting the request later, but the same information is true in either case.

Thank you so much SchnookoLoly! We actually sent everything today (via DHL). ;) For anyone who might be in the same case, I detailed my/our "moving plan" and shared plenty of screenshots from emails/messages (with friends, family and boss) and my social media from throughout the year where I talk about the upcoming move, screenshots from my blog, proof that I have researched accommodation, plane tickets, AirBnbs, general information about living in Montreal and moving to Canada in general, information on how and where to sell my car, proof that I have started selling my stuff and prepared for the move, general search history... There isn't much more I could do so I really hope that will be enough. Like Hurlabrick said, I'm taking the fact that they asked for additional photos as a good sign since that's usually the last thing they ask before approval... We shall see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I won't feel comfortable until we get that final decision!

We got in touch with CIC and they said that they had emailed the sponsor already. My wife never received any emails which is a bit strange, so she asked CIC to send her the email again. It came a week later stating that my PA application is transferred to Bucharest, Romania.
@Hurlabrick, you may want to remove me from the gsheet.

Thanks

Added the spreadsheet, thanks.

I got my email with a PDF attached approving me as sponsor within a couple of days of seeing the status change, it is that PDF that tells you the processing office they sent it to. I would get in touch with them for sure.

Finally, Got Passport Request Today :)

Going to submit passport with two photos and 'Appendix A Updated Information Chart' at Visa Application Centre [VAC] in London which is VFS Global.

Does anyone know that for In Person submission do we have to take appointment or just go there and submit the documents???
Also, in 'Appendix A Updated Information Chart' only applicant information is added or of sponsor as well?

How long do they take to return the passport?

Thanks

Do you mean that actual paper COPR? Check timescales in the spreadsheet in my signature line - seems to be about 2 weeks on average

It really varies. I suggest you ask on the London-Pakistan thread.

PPR = Pasport Request. Those who aren't visa-exempt have to send their passport to receive a visa.

Hi All!

Another quick update for me and a quick question!

I sent an email update on the 28th of September. The updates were for some of our documentation (updates on moving, looking for work, talking to realtors in Canada, etc) as well as a few pictures from a recent vacation/recce trip to Canada. The next day on the 29th, PA got an email requesting a Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union IMM 5409. Not too sure why, as all the guidance says we don't need it since he's not a co-signer or anything. But we got it done the next day, and emailed it back to CIC on the 30th.

So that's my update, but my question is why do they need it? I mean do you think they just glanced and noticed it was missing? Or is this maybe an indication of coming to the end of processing? It's just speculation either way, but has anyone else been asked for this? We're really hoping for approval soon to be able to move in Canada in early January, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much!

Thanks :)

It's generally not required, but a handful of people get the request for it. No real idea why. I wouldn't read into it as anything bad or negative, just a request some people get. :)

Edit; Given your processing office is Ottawa, I'd definitely take it as a good sign! :)

Congratulations! So exciting!

Our additional documents (proof of intent + additional passport photos) were delivered to LVO today, so it's back to waiting for us. Hopefully they will process it quickly and make the decision soon.
