I just had a look at MyCIC and there was a new message asking for document request. The context: I (the sponsor) am a Canadian citizen living in the UK with my (sponsored) partner. The letter is basically asking for any proof that shows my intention to move to Canada once he gets his PR. All our correspondence is in French (we're both French) but they're basically asking for:

- Passport photos I guess he'll have to send new ones, but they don't say how many?

Last question: the documents should be sent within 30 days and they say it should be sent to the following embassy address:

Immigration and Medical Services Division | Section des services d’immigration et des services médicaux
High Commission of Canada | Haut-commissariat du Canada
Canada House | La Maison du Canada
Trafalgar Square
London, UK SW1Y 5BJ

Is that correct? Should we also send an email/specific enquiry or no need?

Thank you in advance for your help! I'm both excited and nervous at that point!

PS: You can therefore update the spreadsheet to doc request (27/09), thank you! ;)
It is TWO photos that are required. Surprised they didn't say. Make sure one is annotated by the photographer as per the instructions and DO make sure they are to the correct, NEW specification (started in Jan 2016 IIRC).

If you are being processed in London, then yes, that is the London address - send it to where they told you.

I s'pose you could send an email saying you've sent stuff, but it is the 'sending of the stuff' that will cut the mustard - DO send it as 'signed for' either Royal Mail track, trace and signed for or a fully fledged courier company - that way you will have proof of receipt.

Spreadsheet suitably updated. I can only say what 'proof' of my intent to return I provided, bearing in mind that I am behind you in the queue and there is no guarantee they will like what 'proof' I have supplied, but here is my list (I of course sent copies of each item):

1. Letters from my sister who lives in NY and my best friend who lives in Ottawa saying how long I have told them I intended to return to Canada and other personal stuff
2. Annual review from my UK financial adviser stating my intention to return to Canada in summer 2017 and how he was planning my asstes for this end date
3. Email exchanges with my Canadian financial adviser confirming that I had already entered into preliminary talks with him
4. Screen shot of my FOREX account with a couple of transfers to my Canadian bank account showing
5. Flight tickets and photos from our Canada recce trip saying where we have now decided to settle in Canada
6. List of all of my other historic trips to Canada
7. Screen shot of my profile on British Expats forum saying how I was using that for guidance
8. Copies of letters proving that I have opened a Canadian bank account and have a small amount of money already in it
9. Copy of my Canadian SIN number letter that I set myself up for on my recce trip
10. Copies of a relocation moving quote

Hopefully this will be enough - dunno what else I could do!
Thank you for your help! I'll gather everything I can and hope for the best. Good luck to you!

Thank you! Their letter is weird, it's written in French but it looks like a "bad" translation. The lack of number of photos needed is not the only weird thing, there are spelling and repetitive mistakes too. Oh well! :)

I will send everything I can (and will definitely send it tracked and signed!).

Ha ha - probably because they don't have a native French / Quebecer on staff - only someone who has 'passed' their French bilingual!

I would take heart that they have asked for both additional photos and proof of intent to reside at the same time. The photos are normally the last thing prior to approval, I wonder if they have made their mind up to approve, but just want a bit more on the proof side so the file looks good!

When setting up your my CIC account do you use the sponsors details or the applicants details? My husbands tried to set it up a few times but we can't seems to get it to work - any help would be great!!

Thanks! I have a question...
I've lived in the US so need an FBI police report. I applied for this in July but didn't want to delay my PR application so I included proof in the PR application that I'd completed and mailed the FBI application. Ironically, the FBI report has now arrived, nine hours after I mailed the PR application to CPCM.
So, should I send it to CPCM without first hearing from them?
Can anyone offer advice? My instinct is to email CPCM once I know they've received the application, telling them I now have the FBI report and asking what action they'd like me to take.

Interesting one! The police certificate is required for the Principal Applicant, not for the Sponsor. It is the Sponsor who is assessed in Mississauga, which generally takes 45 - 60 days from receipt.

Have you already got a UCI and an Application Number from CIC? If not, the no point in sending anything to anyone as there is little chance they would bother trying to link it to your application and it could easily go astray.

If you do have both, I would guess it would be an idea to email CPC Mississauga asking what you should do with the certificate, whether you should send it to them now or wait until sponsor approval to find out which office they are sending it to and send it there instead. Whatever you do, strongly suggest when you do send the certificate that you send it by courier for signed for delivery so you have proof of delivery.

Thanks for the advice, no I have neither UCI nor application number yet. Just trying avoid the situation where CPCM return the application to me as incomplete. As you suggest, I'll wait until I have both then take it from there.

I'm a Feb applicant from London and my background check hasn't started, so I wouldn't worry just yet!

There are plenty of 2015 applicants still waiting. The official wait time is 15 months and i'm only halfway through that, so I am not yet sweating on the application.

Different visa offices around the world have different processing times as we see with London and Ottawa, I would only start to be concerned if may and June applicants through London are getting changed when yours hasn't.

The monthly groups are really only meaningful for a timeline until everyone gets their sponsorship part of their application completed at the same Mississauga office and then they will differ wildly because of the different offices they are sent to around the globe.

Same for us Gary, we applied in March 2016 and our background check is "Not Started".
