Hi everyone! Just a quick update to say that we (finally!) received the CSQ. For anyone wondering or going through the same thing, it took 49 days from the day MIDI received the application to the day we received the approval, which is longer than most/the average, but yay! Now back to waiting. :)

Yep. Mine took 5 weeks. Make sure you email the visa office a scanned copy of your csq.

Oh, is that to be on the safe side? Because it says on the letter that the CSQ has already been transferred to LVO by MIDI.

Just logged in an it says Decision Made! My partner is still cautious but since we didn't receive many requests for additional info (just one asking for Statutory Declaration of Common Law which we sent back right away) and I don't think there are any reasons we should be rejected (famous last words) - I'm going to be optimistic and assume the decision is positive.

So next steps - I've read the FAQs (very helpful - thank you to all who contributed) but I'm still a little confused. I know we are waiting for decision by post and hopefully it will the COPR (confirmation of Permanent Residency). I think the next step after that is to flagpole (my partner is currently in Canada working on an IEC visa).

The part i can't figure out is that many people seem to post that they get a request for a copy of their passport - when does that happen?

Thanks.

I personally sent mine upon receipt and LVO acknowledged my email after 1.5 months. You can't always be sure with MIDI...the officer at MIDI couldn't differentiate a 'f' and wrote 't' instead for my husband's name on the csq, lol. LVO ended up asking me for the corrected version of the csq. I'd suggest you send them a scanned copy, it won't hurt and at least you won't face any delays in case they actually do end up asking you to send it after a few months. I've read around the forum that some people were asked for it bcuz MIDI hadn't forwarded it, and it caused minor delays. Send it through the case specific inquiry medium.

I had no idea, thank you so much for the tip! I will send them a scanned copy today.

Status update.

We received our passport request email today (15 June). Status had changed to "in process" on 6 June. Feeling very fortunate (and a little guilty) that this has all happened so quickly....

Some people are asked for a passport copy, others just get COPR in the post, so just sit tight and see what happens! We can't really work out a rhyme or reason to who gets asked and who doesn't, so just keep an eye on email and post to see if they make that request. :) Spreadsheet updated, congrats!

COPR through now.

Thank you

Ottawa certainly seem to be rapid!

Awesome! When did you get Sponsor Approval? I've just guessed at a date to fill in your line, but let us know when you actually got that. (I'd PM'd you asking for an update, did I miss your response?)

Fantastic! Fortunate but guilty is probably a great way to describe it. Keep an eye on the post and read the wiki articles about landing! Congrats!

Everyone updated!

Got COPR in mail yesterday! Please update spreadsheet. We will be making a flagpole run tomorrow or Saturday. If anyone has advice on best crossing to flagpole at near Vancouver would love to hear it. Plan is for us to drive together but then i'll likely just park and wait while he crosses on foot.

Landing_PR - thanks for posting the update, I've captured it! Cheers!

Andy1 - updated! The BritishExpats wiki article on Landing MIGHT have some links to flagpoling from Vancouver but I'm not sure offhand. There are certainly other flagpoling stories there and I'd imagine they're all reasonably similar.

Hi there,

I am just starting this application for my common-law partner. We live in London at the moment and are flying out to Vancouver on the 5th October!

How long did you application take in the end? When did you submit it?

And also where did you submit it? I am confused by how the guide says to send the application to the Ontario office but people on here are clearly sending to the High Commission of Canada in Trafalgar Square.

Thanks for the help!

congrats cowtown gal :) - speedy timeline!

My husband's interview is in 7 days. Hoping and praying to have GOOD news after.

If you are visa-exempt, will you be asked to send your passport at one point for PR?
I'm worried if they may end up asking that as I'm currently in Canada on visit and will need my passport at one point to go back to my country, and then back for another visit here. :/
