I do not know why there are still applications pending from January-October 2014 which are not in process, or are in process but not DM yet LVO is putting applications received in 2015 in process.

I'm coming up for a year and will be returning to Canada next week to wait it out.

I have a copy of my sponsor approval, copy of sponsor ECAS page and applicant page, return flight for January 2015 and potentially a letter from my UK based employer as I will continue to work for them from Canada. I will tell the first agent at immigration that I am entering with dual intent. Should I expect to be ushered in to secondary questioning?

Andrew Hubbie coming Thursday morning. He has the same paper work as you . I will let you know what happens. Return Ticket for Feb , letter from employer saying he has a job when he comes back in Janauary or sooner and all application letters. Crossing my fingers it goes all good.

Correct, costs $100, but my last extension took 92 days to process... as long as you apply (they recommend 30 days) before your visitor permit expires, you can stay on 'implied status' until you get your new permit.

I emailed LVO 10 days ago to ask if they needed anything from me to help facilitate the processing of my application. I was worried as I have not been asked to do a new medical etc. I am amazed that I actually got a reply today.

'Dear Applicant,
We are writing with regards to your application for permanent residence in Canada.
We can confirm that we are ready to finalise your visa. Please confirm where you are currently residing. Our current records places you in Canada.'

I replied immediately and now have everything crossed!!!

Yay, looks like you're nearly there Tigger :) I've emailed them twice in the past couple of weeks asking for an update and they haven't given me a reply.

I returned from the UK in July after a month vacation; did not have a job letter or anything like that! I wasn't sent into secondary and everything went fine! I don't see why you should have any issues!

From the sounds of it, it does seem like LVO is prioritizing Pakistani applications which seems unfair for the Brits and others that are primarily processed in London. At the minimum, it should be the same timeline however logically speaking, Brits and other visa exempt folks should be processed faster given there is no need to request their passport to paste the immigrant visa on it! Oh well! I really hope it's over soon for everyone waiting! Especially folks from 2014! I wish you all the very best!

I was landing in Canada Edmonton about 5 weeks ago still waiting for my PR to be approved. I only had a return ticket for january 2016 and I was with my two my kids ( they have Canadian passports). I had to fill up that card in the plane ( I think is landing card called) and didn't put the returning date as I don't know when. I showed her my return ticket and she give out to me that is up to her for how lond she will let me stay and her decision might be a month not 6 months ( which I could't understand as I can go for 6 months holiday on my passport) but she said that decisions for PR sometimes takes 2 to 3 years and I should't have ticket 6 months form now. I was really tired after traveling for nearly 15h ( filght from berlin ) with 2 kids I almost cry there but didn't say anything and she stamp my passport. My luggage was lost it was nightmair but I'm here now waiting :)) hopefully I'll get DM soon as I'm waiting 13 months now! Good luck Andrew

My SO wasn't given much hassle, actually no hassle at all his agent was very friendly, polite, helpful and informative. He said he was staying for two months, and they offered him six. They can see the paperwork is in process when they look up your information, so long as you have a return ticket, and sponsor approval it should be ok. I believe I sent him with a letter from me (the sponsor) indicating I would be taking care of him by feeding and housing him during his stay.

I think it really depends who you get at the border. The previous time he came across he was given quite a bit of hassle. It took almost four hours of secondary questioning before they would let him go, and he was only given a month to be in Canada. (he didnt have a return ticket that time)

If hubbie don't get in on Thursday you are going to be hearing my name on the news because i will freak out so badly they probably will arrest me . My nerves are shattered at this point. :) Fingers crossed . He has been here many times and have always returned. Hope he gets a happy CBSA agent .

Hi AndrewBrit,

We arrived in Canada last Monday: I had copies of everything, proof of sponsorship approval, copy of my receipt, screen captures from ecas to show I was approved as sponsor and my partner's application is 'in process'.

When we arrived I asked an immigration officer which line we should go in - because we wanted to go through together. She said we could go through together, no hassle. When we got to the desk area we went up together and I explained the situation that I am a returning Canadian and this is my partner whom I am sponsoring. The officer asked if I had goods with me - I'd checked 'goods to follow' on my landing card as well as ticked 'yes' to commercial items (I am a trainer so had manuals with me). He asked me what my goods were, I told him (I also had a copy of the shipper's form). He asked if my partner was here to land I said not yet - and all he did was stamp his passport, say 'welcome back to Canada' to me and off we went.

He'd written on our cards the numbers they use so I didn't know if we'd get pulled in for secondary interview but we didn't.

As it turns out I didn't need all the documents but had them with me just in case.

You will be fine if you are honest - these Immigration officers are good at sniffing out oddballs so you'll be just fine - same for your hubby too Taffy!

Good luck!
