Passport Req..:

Hello everyone

I am new to the forum, i am British and my wife is Canadian and we are hoping to be living together soon as we are getting tired of the communiting and the expense involved. We sent the application to Mississauga on the 29/01/2014 and it showed on the Canada post tracking service as recieved and signed for on the 02/02/2014.
How ever since then we havent heard anything, what should we be expecting from now on??
Could someone also add me to the spreadsheet

Thanks
My wife and I are on the same dates as you, we've not had a AOR yet. Will be interesting to see how our quick our two cases get through.

No response from LVO so far. I guess LVO has become slow. this wait is on my nerves now. when to expect anything from LVO. Even they have not yet started processing of application.

Don't rely too much on ECAS, as it is not an automatic system; the VO must update it.

Some people show In Process for months, some for weeks, some for only days. And some, like my partner, never show In Process, they go straight from Application Received to Decision Made. GCMS notes show that they started processing my partner's application many months before but the VO never updated ECAS.

Use this link and select online request:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp

Are you in Canada? You want to order the person being sponsored file. It will have more information than the sponsor. But that person must be in Canada, or sign a consent for someone in Canada to request them. You have to upload documents to show you are in Canada and are who you claim to be. We used my husbands IEC visa and his passport.

The information in Becki 567's reply is not correct. If you apply online, the application can be made from anywhere in the world, but must be made by a Canadian citizen or PR That person does not need to be in Canada. An application by post is I think different, but why go to the trouble of applying by post when you can apply online for only $5? Making an application online is straightforward. You can get the relevant application form on line. In addition you will need a photocopy of the Canadian passport of the applicant for the information, which has to be scanned and attached to the application, the consent document (which has to be printed, signed by the PR applicant and then scanned and attached to the application) and a credit card so that you can pay the $5. EASY PEEZY.

If you look at the drop-down menu below the text
*To be eligible to make a request, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or an individual or corporation currently present in Canada. Please select the category that best describes you.
The list actually looks like this...

--Seleect--
Canadian citizen
Permanent resident of Canada
Individual/corporation currently present in Canada
None of the above
This causes the reading of the paragraph to actually be...

*To be eligible to make a request, you must be (a Canadian citizen), (a permanent resident of Canada) or (an individual or corporation currently present in Canada). Please select the category that best describes you.

I agree, as usual, with Zardoz. A corporation cannot be a Canadian citizen or a PR and therefore has to be in Canada to apply. An individual who is not a PR or a Canadian citizen likewise has to apply if at all from Canada. A Canadian citizen or a PR can apply from anywhere. My sponsor (Canadian citizen) has applied twice on my behalf from the UK (my doing all the computer work; so I have first hand information of this assertion!)) without any problem at all. Please note that there was one error in my first post, which I have belatedly modified: the application can be made online by a Canadian citizen or a PR from anywhere in the world.

Is it possible to block members on this forum? So I don't have to see their replies and they can not see mine?

So I ordered my GCMS notes and in the blurb bit at the bottom where they write a summary they have described me a "male" and "he" when I am in fact a female and she. Throughout the notes it gives the correct sex so I have nothing to worry about right? Just a typo?

Thank you for your help. Do you know the link where I can apply for the notes? If you do not know, I trust Zardoz knows! I am so curious to see what is going on. I mean, I know that we are still within the Ab"normal" processing times but really, I don't understand why it takes so long. Maybe by getting the notes, I may have a better idea.
Also, the language on the CIC website is very confusing and depending on how you read much of the stuff there, it may have 2 or 3 different ways of interpreting. They must do that to screw with people. Have Canadian Citizens or PR's living outside of Canada been able to get the notes? If so, then there is no doubt in my mind with the way Zardoz broke up that sentence.
Thanks for your help everyone!

It takes a few weeks to get the notes. You could well have decision made by then. I would wait a while if i were you. CIC always goes in fits and starts. Nothing will happen for ages, then a whole bunch of applications show progress in a week. I will start to get annoyed if we don't hear anything by mid-march, but we are still within the median wait time at the moment. The average on the spreadsheet is skewed by the super fast applications. There is nothing unusual about our timescale!

Some of the earlier applications not yet in process are all delayed by being from non-visa exempt countries or missing documents/had document requests. There is a bunch of us with complete applications from August, I bet well all hear off them within the same week!

I know it is frustrating, I am in the same boat, but just wait it out. You will hear off them soon, i'm positive!
