May be that was the initial review?

Hello,

My partner's current IEC visa expires in September, and as it is unlikely as will have our COPR by then, I am trying to figure out what to do next.

If we flagpole in the states, does he need to have a flighty booked out of the country for 6 months time? Or is having sufficient funds in his bank account enough?

I don't really want to book a flight for no reason...

If anyone has done this, any advice is appreciated.

Hi everyone, I need some help with my application to extend my stay in Canada. I did myself a profile in CIC online page and now when I check the documents I need to provide there is also a medical exam. This seems a little bit weird... do I just put a copy of the paper the doctor gave me when I had the examination done to the PR application or do I really need to go to a doctor again? I'm so confused.

EDIT: On the online questionnaire they ask if I have had a medical exam performed by CIC auth. panel physician within the past 12 months. I said yes, because I had to do one for the PR application. Does this questionnaire think that I had to do it to come here as a visitor? Should I just say no to that?

Maybe I'll just send an application by mail if this online thing doesn't start to make sense!! :D

So folks, I received an email from CIC today telling me my notes surrounding my case were going to be emailed to me on August 8th. I am slightly intrigued at to what notes have been made surrounding my application. Are they pretty easy to understand or is there a lot of jargon and acronyms?

Any input it gratefully appreciated. In other news, I turned 30 yesterday.

Here is to a productive week.

I have no idea about the notes, but just wanted to wish you happy birthday!!! :)

Hi Guys,

I have a question about this "Conditional PR" I understand that if you have been living together 2 years or less you get that. When they say 2 years do the mean everything less than 3? I've been living with my partner for 2 years and 4 months and it will be longer when we finally do get this thing approved! So Just wondering if I would fall under this category or not because technically its more than 2 years. Does anyone know?

I get why they do it but this seems like it will cause even more hassle down the line... It says you have to stay together for 2 years after this is granted, well how do they monitor that? Do you have to send in another application and all the same proof again in another 2 years and wait god knows how long for that to be approved all over again?!

That sounds like a nightmare I don't think I could go through this process again, it's driving me crazy!

Feedback appreciated! :)

You are fine. 2 years or less means anything under 24 months (= 2 years). You have been living together for more than 2 years, so don't worry. :)

Thanks for the reassurance! I was hoping that would be the case but you just never know, because it would only be a matter of months over! Trying to be positive but with all this strike action it's just a pain!

you can flagpole indeed, and having proofs of your bank account, and your PR application ( sponsor approval letter for example) would help. Or - if you don't want to flagpole, you can also ask for a "change of status" from a working visa to a tourist one. You can do it online, or by mail, it costs $75. Just explain that you've waiting for PR, add a proof of it, and ask for 1 year to be on the safe side ( so you don't have to do it again). As long as you send your application for visitor visa (change of status) before the IEC expires, you have implied status (meaning that you can stay legally in Canada, but can't work anymore) until you hear back from CIC (might take 2 months).

Thanks for replying, Sweden!

What kind of funds are they looking for? Like thousands?

I don't think so... bringing paystubs from your partner can work too. They want to see that you have a plan. So if you have savings in your bank account, bring that, as well as 3 recent paystubs from your partner, and that should do the trick. Also because - you have already applied for PR, and have done stage 1, so your PR should be fairly soon after the expiry of the IEC.
When I flew into Canada, without a return ticket, I had prepared my bank statements but wasn't asked for anything... so it might be the same for you. Better be prepared, but I don't think you'll be asked for much as long as you seem prepared.
Good luck!

Hey guys, just wanted to know if wrong name of the spouse on the COPR matters or not. Will it cause any problems in landing?
Just HOW wrong is it?
