Well, in yet another tragic turn for our lives my wife was made redundant today. The job that we rushed to this bloody city for in the first place. Effective immediately. She was doing her job well, but her boss can't afford her. And thanks to Ontario's wonderful labour laws, all she gets is 1 week of pay for redundancy. So now we're both jobless, and I probably won't get my COPR for another month because of the bloody strike. Good thing i've got a balcony. Nice and easy to jump off.
Oh DTG, you have been through the most unpleasant journey :( but you know what they say...after the rain comes the sunshine, so just hang in there and you'll be sunbathing in your balcony soon ;) (don't jump!!)

I just ordered my notes and I'm currently inside Canada but they charged me 5$ anyways, I don't mind paying it since its not allot, but I read someone said it was supposed to be free if you're inside of Canada...but at the end i didn't quite understand what "location" they where asking for, but they asked for file type, then file number then "location" so I figured they meant location of the file so i typed London, but i hope they don't think i'm in London since my address is Canadian.....I'm confused!!!

I also noticed that I haven't been updated as "in process" on the spreadsheet, can someone do it please?! I've been officially "in process" since the 15th of May.

Well to make a long story short my interviewing officer rang me Friday afternoon to tell me my confirmation of permanent residence was ready to be picked up from the high commission! One last day in London with my family then I fly out tomorrow morning, can't wait to get there!

Congrats!! well at least they were able to stick to their promises this time!! well done and have a safe flight back - your husband could not come, but you come back with PR in hand, that's quite impressive!

REALLY sorry to hear that DGT. Please don't jump off!! We are nearly in June....

DGT: Hang in there!!! I hope you get your COPR soon.

Korma: thanks for the "administrative refusal"-info!

Its been awfully quiet on here for the past day.

Any news on this strike?

Any idea if theyve already gone back to work or when they might go back?

There's next to no information on the strike. Not even on PAFSO's website. So who knows? ARGH.

Ridiculous.

I know, right! I sent an email to "Frederic" who is listed as the contact on the link that Sweden posted. I will let you know when/ if I hear back.

Hope everyone is faring well! :)

Bad news with the strike,

I am going to send an e-mail to the CIC to ask for some more information about the strike, Once I have a response I will post it on here.

It's a work to rule strike, not a total stoppage. No overtime, only duties in the job description etc.

Google 'Globe and Mail PAFSO' and you'll find a few stories explaining this :)

Oh I see! Thanks Mark. I'm struggling to find anything about it in the Globe and Mail though. I can only find references to previous actions and other missions abroad. Could you post a link to what you've seen at all?

Cheers!
