Just for reference, these are not QR codes. They are PDF417 barcodes and can be read using mobile phone applications.
The same format is used by some airlines for boarding passes.

At last, I have some news.

My new UK passport has arrived! Nice and shiny, and it even has a note of my previous passport number and the fact that I lost it on there! So I can get my medical done at last, and end this nightmare. Once the medical is examined, they'll be ready to issue the COPR for me (as they've already pretty much said that I've been accepted pending a good medical.)

When I went to get my OHIP the officer put down 3 months from the date of issue on my COPR! Some vary I'm sure as they all seem to do whatever they feel like!

In all honesty, I'm personally not too fussed if they do it from date of COPR being issued or landing as there's not much difference in time between the dates, and I'm still covered by other insurance until the end of July. I'm just pleased to hear the date starts from date COPR is issued and not from when you apply for OHIP - saves me rushing out to apply.

Out of curiosity, how do they actually track how long you've spent in Ontario to meet the annual requirement? My wife was in England so much visiting me one year that she must have almost lost it. I'd imagine for out of country they could check with the border agency, but what about just staying in another province for a bit?

Not that I'm planning on going anywhere now that I'm here - I'm just curious!

I've not posted a lot in here as I'm lucky enough to be in Canada while my application is processed. However enough is enough

London... I would quite like some progress on my file... I understand that there are people before me... whom I have no quarrel with... I also do not have quarrel with the very fortunate people whom submitted their application after me and are either "in process" or even 'Decision made'... I wish them all the best with their new life in Canada. I happen to be in the fortunate position to already be in country, with my spouse.

My quarrel, is with this "system" that no amount of my own statistical analysis can infer ANY sense of order other than "eeenie meenie miney mo". A system where applicants fill out electronic forms complete with QR codes and yet STILL the office offers near minimal feedback as to where in the system a certain application is. An example; many applicants (myself included) have to contact the office to see if their application is actually IN the London office. A step that can be easily digitized by the actual QR codes we print out.. File arrives..QR code scanned...ECAS electronically updated...

The exact same can be done for the "In Process" section of the application process, Immigration officer retrieves the file.... QR code scanned... ECAS electronically updated with a time/date stamp.

The current system is nothing short of shambolic, children's medical files being lost, entire applications sitting on a shelf for months until the applicant makes contact again with the office to see what the hold up is this time, to mention a mere few of the problems I have read about in this forum. I am genuinely surprised that many cases have not been brought before a Judge due to the CIC London's complete negligence to certain applications. Although I'm no legal expert, I would think that one would have a strong case for reclaiming lost wages from CIC due to their negligence.

Now after typing this all out... I think I may even send it on to Mr Gordon Campbell asking for an explanation (and potentially referencing this forum) to find out what is going on behind those think London Visa Office doors.

It is unreal that, in this day and age, somebody can't seem to push a button to update a tracking system with information. I guess the relevant health and safety assessment of "tapping a few keys with the specific intent to update a system or systems" has yet to be carried out.

How come every single courier (FedEX UPS DHL etc.) who process thousands of packages a day all over the world can do it, and do it so well that you can see every stop your package makes, but CIC can't? There's obviously an easy way to do it.

Checking my application status it says my application was received October 15 2012, my sponsor was approved sometime in November or early December 2012 and the file was transferred to London according to CIC.

It still says application received in the system.

Anyone have any guess when I can expect this thing to be done? According to the London sheet it seems like the 140 days average should be sometime around now. Have not heard anything from them yet regarding additional documents.

Should I just email them and ask when my application is done?

you can email them if you want, but I would say it's a bit early. If you look at the spreadsheet you'll see that they haven't really started with sponsors approved in November, but it should be quite soon... it's difficult to know how long it will take, but if you have a straight forward case, no red flag, a complete application (with RPRF paid etc), then you should hear from them quite soon. You can email them but you might not receive an answer.... it might just indicate one day "decision made" on ecas, and the COPR will arrive by post at your address.

If you're in Canada, make sure that you have your canadian address as a mailing address.

After reading several different forums it seems both inland and outland application processes are very challenging.
how can any one say which is better???

I am a Canadian Citizen married to a UK citizen Living in England. we have been married for two years - married in Alberta. I just found out I can get my job back in Canada which will start Mid June. I don't want to be apart from my husband for very long and in turn he doen't want to be with out a job for too long.

Like I said on the other thread, outland seems best for you guys. Most people usually only go inland if:

- Their visa office has a much longer processing time than 14 months (doesn't apply to you guys, London is way faster)

- The partner needs Implied status from the inland app to be able to stay in Canada with their partner and if already here on a work permit, to continue working (doesn't apply to guys as he can enter Canada no prob as a tourist)
