Our interview was Feb 13, 2013. Feb 14 we received a letter stating to submit an updated police certificate from the uk, since it was a year that it had expired. In the letter is said to allow 4 months for correspondence and issuance of visa. So I'm figuring 4 months. Speaking with FK22, he had told me his took 3.5 months to get his PR.

Take Care,
Sonia

Hi,
I recieved a request for further police reports on the 26/03/13. One from Australia where I'd spent a year travelling in 1999-2000 (my mistake I should have put this in originally!) and one from France where I'd previously worked on a boat for around 18 months but at no point was I in France for more than 8 weeks at a time so I didn't think I'd need a police cert for this period?

Has anyone else been through this loop? On the VO email it says it oculd take 4 months to review the documents! Is this likely to be the case and how long will it take to get an Australian and French police report? I completed the forms on line last night.

Any help/ advice would be appreciated.

Hello! I can't speak from experience about the French Police Clearance, but I can tell you that the AFP are very quick. I got my police clearance from Canberra in about a week, quicker than the UK! So it shouldn't be long!

While they state that it can take 4 months to review new files, other experience on the forums makes it out to be around 30 days for the review of new information!
When you were in Australia, did you live in Queensland or Victoria? If so, you'll need to get a report from the State Police as well as the Federal Police stating your driving record. More info here.

So it's from the day you landed (and not the day you apply for OHIP) that they start counting the 3 months Sfeire? May I ask which documents you took with you to apply for OHIP? Just want to be sure we don't forget anything. Thanks!

Well I landed March 14th, applied the next day March 15tg and I won't be eligible until May 25th? So I'm not sure how that works? I brought my COPR, passport and I have an Ontario driving license so I used that as a proof of address. If you don't have one you need a bank statement or something official like that with your address. Don't panic if you don't have anything right away. The lady said to me that that's why they give you the few months, to get your documents you need!

Thanks Sfeire. I think they use the date on the COPR to determine the 3 month waiting period. Any trouble getting your SIN? Did you use the same documents to apply for it? Thanks!

Decision Made! It's official (unlike the last time where they told me my COPR was in the post and it wasn't). Assuming what they told me this time is actually true then and my COPR was posted on Monday I will get it next week (of course mine gets posted the week that Friday is a holiday lol - just to stretch it out a little more ;))

Strangely enough I also got my GCMS notes today...

Congratulations!!

Did your notes explain anything for you?

From my GCMS notes this appears to be my story for London:

- Started processing 10/12/12
- Confirmed eligibility 10/12/12 then asked me for the travel form. The reason noted for this was that I was travelling with my partner across SE Asia for a long period of time (10 months) and they wanted to clarify the dates to see if further Police Certificates were required (fwiw they already had these dates, I sent them a detailed list with passport stamps to match our travel dates but whatever)
- Received clean RCMP (Canada) police check on 12/12/12.
- Entered travel form as received 13/12/12

Then nothing. No updates at all.

Then:
- Request from PA (me) for an update 13/2/2013, reminder sent to file reviewer
- File is reviewed on 21/2/2013, medicals added and travel form reviewed as 'passed'. But by this point my medicals are about to expire on 8/3/2013 so they have to request a medical extension.

So basically nobody did anything for 2 months until I contacted them on 13/2/2013. Moral of the story: if you've been waiting a while after sending them documents, contact London as a polite reminder.

The notes at the end:
'Pending Med and RCMP British Citizen PI is being sponsored as a common-law partner by a (blank), PI advises that he and sponsor met in the UK in Sept 07 and that they have co-habited since Sept 09, this has been in Canada and the UK. Satisfied that PI and sponsor have co-habited for at least 12 months. No reason to doubt bona-fides. As sponsor resides in Canada no intent to return issues to be address. No adverse FOSS - PI and sponsor clean UK/PC 18 April 2012. PI has been in Canada since Sept 2011, issued a work permit in Jan 2012 which is due to expire on 1 Jan 2013, RCMP check initiated via GCMS, no apparent concerns. File thinned, PI took med in Canada in March 2012, email sent to Ott requesting that they obtain result. File to map for eligibility.'

Wonderful!! Congratulations! ;D :P

Only 2nd place on the spreadsheet at 321 days :(

Damn you Fhaider! It wasn't a fair race since you had the non-visa exempt and interview to slow you down. All I had to go with was London basically forgetting my file and doing SFA for 2.5 months...

Congrats MItchy! :) Finally! I was thinking about you this morning actually! Im so glad that its official!

The French one is also really quick - I got mine in 3 to 4 days, so once you have both and send it, it shouldn't hold up your file for much longer. Good luck!

Really interesting; thanks for sharing!

What's 'No adverse FOSS'?
