I was wondering that too. There is a lot of lingo in there! But the basic gist is 'straight forward application except we'll just forget about it for 2.5 months to drag out the process'...

Hello,

I have been looking at 'proof of cohabitation', and there is one month where we were travelling and have little/ no proof of cohabitation. We are a bit nervous to send off the application with essentially a gap in our 12 months continuous living.

We have lived together for almost 2 years now with small gaps (visiting family, holidays).

We are nervous that now having a full 12 months with no gaps is going to cause us to get rejected.

Anyone else have this problem? We have leases to cover everything except for our month that we have no proof for cohabitation.

Could you explain a little bit more so we can be clearer what you mean? Because if you have a 12 month+ lease that is pretty good as proof of living together. Throw in some bills, joint accounts (etc) on top and you should be fine...

Well good news - we got our GCMS notes today via email!

Quick question: I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer on whether this will be a positive or negative to the application or not.

One of the notes says: "No CSCD date because no biodata on photos and no 1017, but do have a copy of medicals"
We pretty much figured out when we got to our doctor for the medicals that she had NO IDEA what she was doing, so we made them give us a copy of the medical sheet to include because I had this inkling that things would go wrong. They haven't asked us for any additional information yet (probably because no November apps going thru London yet are being looked at). Any ideas?

Thanks! :)

Sorry for not being unclear.

We have lived together as friends for 1 year 4 months, and as a couple for 17 months. The problem is that I went to visit my family for one month, and we were travelling for another month between leases.

Is it possible to have the 12 month requirement filled with a gap of a month?

We have joint bank accounts, a letter from our landlord, endless correspondence from the one month apart.

Basically, do we fulfill the 12 month requirement if there is a one month gap?

Really interesting; thanks for sharing!

What's 'No adverse FOSS'?
Answer from other forum "FOSS is the In-Canada computer record for immigration. You are in Canada so they checked that to make sure there were no violations noted."

Yup it's totally fine. Especially with the other evidence considered. A lot of people (myself included) have small gaps for personal/visa issues and so on...

Thank you for replying, that is a huge weight off my shoulders.

So for the tome apart, did you just explain that in your application why you were apart for this time? (where on the application do you do this?)

I left Britain, where we had lived for the past few years (I am canadian) at the end of July and he joined me in Canada in September. I went home to find a job/ get settled before he joined me on his 1 year IEC Visa.

You could just put in a note or something to explain this. My partner and I were also apart for a few weeks, I had a little table explaining where and when we lived together. I assume that your UK visa ran out and that's why you left? The officer processing your file will use common sense and if you left the UK, after living together there, and he joined you in Canada shortly afterwards this is totally fine and is almost kind of expected given the fact that you are from these 2 countries... There is even a note to confirm this is fine on the CIC website: "You are allowed short absences for business travel or family reasons, however"

Take Care,

Decision Made! It's official (unlike the last time where they told me my COPR was in the post and it wasn't). Assuming what they told me this time is actually true then and my COPR was posted on Monday I will get it next week (of course mine gets posted the week that Friday is a holiday lol - just to stretch it out a little more ;))

Strangely enough I also got my GCMS notes today...
Congrats Michty6. really pleased for you. You have waited long enough

Hi,
I recieved a request for further police reports on the 26/03/13. One from Australia where I'd spent a year travelling in 1999-2000 (my mistake I should have put this in originally!) and one from France where I'd previously worked on a boat for around 18 months but at no point was I in France for more than 8 weeks at a time so I didn't think I'd need a police cert for this period?

Has anyone else been through this loop? On the VO email it says it oculd take 4 months to review the documents! Is this likely to be the case and how long will it take to get an Australian and French police report? I completed the forms on line last night.

Any help/ advice would be appreciated.
Hey Jim

The Aussie cert took about 2 weeks to reach us when we were living in the UK. For the French one, we were in Canada when applying for that, so we added a request for them to send it directly to the office in London instead of to us in Canada, as it would have added a few weeks :). We did the online application, then sent the email with the ID. The cert reached London within a week. A month later, we had decision made

If an application has been rejected, how long would it be until you know? Do you have to wait until the 'decision made' tells you?
