I havent looked into any of this yet, but from your reaction, I'm assuming they won't transfer your uk insurance history to canada?

Get a copy of your driver's abstract from the DVLA, as well as letters from any insurance companies that you've had in the UK which state your driving history in terms of no claims. Many auto insurance providers here won't aknowledge your UK driver's history, even with proof, so you'll need to call around and ask explicity if they will take into account the proof you've got from the UK. You can try johnson.ca - they offer some discounts for expats.

Auto insurance is super expensive in Canada and in Ontario in particular because of the crazy high level of fraud. Basically a few idiots spoiling it for everyone else. They are trying to cut it down now and pass some Government measures but the ambulance chasing lawyers just find new loopholes. There are tonnes of them out there and they advertise heavy on TV.

One cheaper way, if possible, would be to get your Canadian spouse to take out the insurance and you can then insure the car under his/her name but for all drivers...

Also get a Canadian drivers license. It is a piece of cake. You just go to Service Ontario/Canada (can't remember which but you can Google it) with your UK driving license, they do a quick eye test, take your UK drivers license card and send you out an Ontario one. You can then apply through the DVLA to get a new UK license for like 20 quid so you can have both :)

Hey! It sounds like you're near the end. Maybe another month or so. It's likely that your CSQ is in London, and just hasn't been added to your file yet. I would email them and inform of when you sent it to them, and ask them to confirm that they have received it!
