Hi all,

I have some questions, you may help me in this regard.

Q1: My wife has applied for my PR from Canada, according to ECAS she is aproved as sponsor and my PR application has been sent to London 27 days back (she has received an email in this regard too). ECAS is showing that my application and Medical result has been received from the day application received in Missisuage there is no information that application has been sent or received by London VO and that is also not stated that my application is "IN PROCESS" the only thing written there is application received. I have not received any email or letter from London VO. Kindly explain.

Q2: She is living and working in Canada and I am in Denmark. The same she has mentioned in her application. What is if she moves to me now in Denmark and does do any work (we are missing each other). I am working in Denmark. Will it help if sponsor is working in Canada or does not matter if she moves here to me and we wait for the decision together OR may London VO ask for her job on a later stage? How sposnors job helps the case to be completed on time?

Kindly reply!
Hey Desi PK,

welcome to the thread.
Q1; it's normal! London doesn't really send out emails to say that the application has been received. As long as you can log into ecas, and you see medicals have been received, then it's safe to assume that your file is in London, and waiting to be opened. Some people go "in process", some never do and have directly "decision made". Most likely, you won't hear anything for the next 3 months... if you look at the spreadsheet (in my signature) you will see that London is mostly working on file received in July and August, so since yours was received in November, then there is still time...

Q2: if your wife is a Canadian citizen, she can choose to stay with you in Denmark (but for Danish rules, only 3 months as a tourist are allowed I believe). If she is a PR of Canada, she MUST remain in Canada for the duration of the process. She can come and visit you (about 2 weeks at a time) but the rest of the time, she must be in Canada. Having a job is not a requirement to sponsor a spouse, your wife had to prove that she has a way to support you when you come to Canada, but since her sponsorship has already been approved, I don't think that they will ask again.
It might help prove that you are a genuine couple if she moves to be with you in Denmark and wait out the PR process, but it really depends on your application, how long you have been together, which proofs you sent, etc. A complete application is what helps get the file completed faster, but if London feels that they are missing some evidence that your marriage is genuine, they might ask for it when they open your file. So if your wife comes and visit, keep the records of that ( plane ticket, pictures etc) so that you can send them to the VO if required. But do not send anything until they ask for it.

GOod luck on the process, and if you want to add yourself to the spreadsheet, feel free - it's in my signature, and the explanation on how to do it in in my previous post!
Good luck,
Sweden

thanks for your quick replies.
Load off my back now. hahaha
My husband is excited to start work once his permit goes through.
Called the call center and they said as long as he applies for his work permit before his tourist visa expires then he's alright. just to keep his approval letter handy.
I like the idea of going to the states. SHOPPING! My husband also wants to see New York. We live in Nova Scotia.

Sweden would you be able to do the spreadsheet for me. Totally don't know where to put anything. I sent it july 25 and got my approval the 29th of Nov. I also was missing some docs so got an email on nov 5 to tell me that. so from nov 7th when it was recieved to the 29th. Not long at all.

Dear Sweden,

Thanks for your reply.

What does PPR means in your attached file? What do you think that how much would it take to finalize our application by taking this in mind that my file has been transfered to UK a month back and I have a Pakistani background. Any rough idea?

PPR means Passport Request. If you're from Pakistan, you will have to send your passport to London, so they can attach the visa to your file. If you're from a Pakistani background, but holder of a Danish passport ( or any european, visa-exempt passport), then you won't have to send your actual passport (that's why on the spreadsheet the PPR column is blank for a lot of applicants), but you will get directly the COPR ( Confirmation of Permanent Residence) directly via post to your address.
About average time - it's really difficult to say. 3 months seems to be more or less a minimum for visa-exempt nationals, and non-visa-exempt tends to take longer, as the backgrounds checks also have to be done in Pakistan in your case. It also depends if your case is complicated or not... Fhaider on the spreadsheet is also from Pakistan, and it took about 9 months from the moment it was received in London... but as I said - you might be done quicker, if your case is less complicated, or if the background checks go faster...
Good luck,
Sweden

I've added you to the spreadsheet, you're in row 107, then it's up to you to update whenever you have news, once you're in the spreadsheet it's quite easy to add things in!
Good luck,

Hey all,

Just thought i'd let you all know that today we got stage 1 sponsorship approval! Woo hoo!

Looking at the processing times for London it suggests that it will take 9 months for stage 2 to be approved, but the spread sheet is suggesting more like 6-7 months.

What do you think is more accurate/likely?

Congrats on the approval on stage 1, and welcome to stage 2 and london Vo!
Processing time - good question! it's quite unpredictable, but let's say: if you are from a visa-exempt country, with a very straight forward case ( married or common-law, no previous marriage, living together now, and no previous history of sponsorship), you could be done in around 4 months. If you have any of these factors: complicated case/non-visa exempt/not currently living together/some documents missing/Right of permanent residence fee not paid/medicals already expired etc, then you might be looking more at 6 to 9 months, depending on how many factors you have...
Good luck,
Sweden

Thanks Sweden,

I'm guessing our case is fairly straight forward, we have been living together for a year, although I'm only here as a visitor, Ill be going home in March to have an English wedding party and sit out the rest of the wait, say goodbye to family ship belongings over etc. Hoping the app is approved in June.

If it's straight forward and you're living together ( and I can see from the spreadsheet that you are married), and from the UK, chances are that you'll be done sooner, maybe even before you leave back to the UK! :) so you could land ( at the US border) and then exit Canada to go to the wedding, and come back a bit later once everything is packed, shipped etc! but hopefully you won't have to wait full 6 months.
Good luck,
Sweden

I've sent another email to CIC london asking them if they have received our medicals and also if they can send me an update on my status. The likely hood of me getting a reply with a proper answer is slim, however it is coming up to Christmas and miracles can happen, right?! LOL

Good luck Scottish maple. Hope you hear good news. From my vast experience of E-mail replies from London, they will do everything but give you any form of status update unless it suits them Their favourite seems to be "your file is in a queue to be reviewed" OR if your really lucky you will get "your file is currently under review". The 2nd one is a great message to receive but under review and "in process" are 2 different things and if you get that message it can usually be about a month before it goes "in process". Once it is in process, usually they are relatively quick (by CIC standards) although I do see a few who seem to be waiting oh so long at this point, Sarah2012, nmford and Mirage1964 spring to mind. These 3 people must have the patience of a saint and I really hope they are cleared soon.

Good luck to you and lets hope CIC clears the last few June and July applicants and gets August applicants finished before the new year.

Hey thanks for the congratulations Sweden, Rising Sun, becca star, bonitanita and scottish maple! Much appreciated. As a point of interest for those considering having a child in Canada without coverage, we ended up incurring about $3500 in cost all up for a caesarean section, including the surgery and 48 hours in a private room afterwards. It wasnt the way we had wanted it for it but we had budgeted in case it came to that, and were obviously glad we did. If you had a "normal" birth, it would run you about $1250, and if you do it at home with midwives, sweet nothing. And the midwives do accept non-residents. We started out at home with midwives, but that wasnt what nature had in store. In the end just glad it went well, and frankly considering the professionalism and calibre of medical personnel we dealt with, the whole thing seemed cheap at the price.

Best of luck to everyone else still waiting!

you can add yourself to the London spreadsheet, the link is in my signature, and there is a December thread as well, where you can follow the process for stage 1...
Welcome to the waiting game!
