Here's a question...

I'm including a letter that details our relationship. Should I keep it pretty dry and stick to the details, or should I let my hilarious (at least to me) personality shine through and make it a bit more of an interesting read?

I would let you own personality shine through it a little bit. We did to an extent with our letter which we included with the application.

Pinklady:

I now have that COPR date. It arrived in the post this morning and is post marked 30/03. :P ;D

I can't believe how quick the whole process has been although we did plan on it being a worse case scenario.
Now I just need to fingure out when to hand my notice in etc. 2 months I need to give >:(
So it looks like mid June which is when I had my next holiday planned to visit.

Woo hoo. Had 2 hours sleep by time the post man arrived after my night shift but hey who needs sleep with news like this.

Got my passport with the visa! :P so happy... it took long time actually cause it has to be sent from england to Colombia, but it actually arrived the 5th of march !
Good luck for the rest that is still waiting! things in the end will work out !
thank you!!

Fingers crossed you will have it tomorrow.

Mine changed to Decision made Friday and the COPR arrived Saturday morning. The actual date on the COPR was the 27th March.

Exciting times and nervous times.

I have never been out of work :o

Welcome to the forum

thanks! I'll come and check in on progress... first April applicant! :-)

Couple of questions:

1. On the generic form, it says country of current residence. I am living in Canada with my spouse on an extended tourist visa. It says From and To. What date do I put in the "to" box? I can't write present. I am printing off the forms but don't plan to send them for another week or maybe two.

2. When I validate the forms, it says that there are barcodes on them. However, I don't see any. When I print them off, all I see on the last page are a bunch of small numbers like "1mmm0008_07_2011_08" but no barcodes. Is this right? Is something wrong? If so what?

Thanks in advance!

1. Just put present. Sign and date the forms right before you send them. Present will be fine.
2. Not sure about this one, when i printed off the forms there was no barcode. Perhaps you could ask another member who has recently filed their application?

Hi all,

I'm just after a bit of advice please. My girlfriend, who I'm sponsoring, and I have just got engaged and we plan to marry before we land in Canada. We applied as common-law partners, but we're not sure how this would effect our application / my fiancé's visa. Would the visa be incorrect or invalid, or does this not really matter? Would we need to start the application process again? Sponsorship has been approved, and my fiancé's application is currently in London waiting to be processed.

Any advice from someone who has gone through this would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Neville.

Congratulations!! As far as I know, you will need to notify them of the status change, I'm not sure how it works now because when I sponsored my fiancé he had to send a form with his passport to notify them of changes before they sent the COPR to him.
Luckily there are super duper people in this thread that will give you a definite answer!

nope, I can log into ecas now though with my sponsors details. Still just says application received, they said 1 - 2 more weeks for the approval and that was last week. I imagine I will be at around Day 85ish so the waiting time has increased dramatically. Lots of other people on British expats still waiting around the same time too
