Well awilliams123, I just got sponsorship approval a couple weeks back and my fiancé and I have already planned to move on the 29th of February. We won't have his COPR by then but we're going anyway. Just make sure your address is always up to date on the system and you can go whenever you want.

Also, you don't need to be with him when he lands.

If your not a PR dont you need to show that you will be returning to the UK when you get there?

If im a canadian citizen can i book one way ticket to uk?

You can book it, but it depends on the airline as to whether they will let you board the plane or not.
I know that before I became a PR, I had a one way from UK to Canada and they wouldnt let me check in. I had to purchase a return at the airport.
You should call the airline and ask before you book.

I officially landed today at Canada Place Edmonton, pretty painless, the hard part was waiting in line for so long, but once in the room it went pretty fast. We have to contact Border control to submit our GTF list, and went straight downstairs after to service Canada to get my SIN number. So yay, all done and dusted now, good luck to all still waiting, and try not to get to paranoid on checking, it is addictive. :)

Congratulations!!!!!! :)

Thanks baloch for reply buddy, another thing is one and a half week before my wife did an email to london for asking the status of our case they said your application is awaiting for review to the visa officer, now i am hoping everything will be ok but the question arise here is... did they complete my background check etc. or do you think this is the part of ''in process'' i mean how long they ll gona take for background check coze i m also from pakistan and lives in ireland on student status from 5 and half years...

what is your opinion ?

normally they do mention if they are doing background checks and yes background checks are the part of in process, most importantly, don't rely on eCAS, what they tell you during communication is real!
processing time from london is 7 months but it definitely takes more for non-EU nationals, be patient and if you are lucky enough you might hear from them in near future because these days they have gear themselves up as I can see from other cases!

I had a question and I was wondering if anyone might help/could offer advice on whether it would speed things along a bit:

We received a RPRF via email yesterday (a nasty surprise, since we had assumed that our lawyer had advised us of all payments to be made when we applied and that it was plain sailing -- silly us). We paid it immediately and faxed the receipt to CPC-M last night. I plan on posting a hard copy to CPC-M this afternoon.

HOWEVER, I noticed earlier in this thread that some people had received a RPRF in error (they had paid the full $1040 up front) and to rectify this situation, they just emailed London back and said, "Hey, this was already paid, attached is a copy of the receipt -- is this sufficient?" and London has responded saying that it was sufficient.

My question is: Do you think I could sneakily get around the up to eight weeks it can take for CPC-M to get the receipt to London by emailing/faxing London a copy? Or is this very cheeky and frowned upon? I don't want to upset anyone -- especially those who have me by the balls, essentially! :P

P.S. PinkLady, do you think you could add me to the spreadsheet? Sponsorship approval was Nov. 14! :)

You could use the case specific enquiry webform and attach a copy of the receipt as a pdf. I would do it. I don't think it can hurt.

Course I will add you to the spreadsheet :)

I have seen a lot on the right of permanent residence fee on this thread. Not sure why, but I never came across the option to pay this upfront when we were filing the application. We only paid the application fees. How did we miss this? Also, how much of a delay will this cause?

Unfortunately, this might cause 60 days delay as per CIC website :((

Can we just pay this fee now and send the receipt to be added to the file? Or do we have to wait for them to ask for it now?

Hahaha thanks ahm2299!

You can go ahead and pay it now. Send the receipt to Mississauga and remember to include your file number and take a copy for yourself. Its $490.

The total amount you should pay is $1040
Sponsorship application $75
Principal applicant $475
Right Permanent Residence fee $490

pinklady, THANKS!!
What would this forum be without you!!! :)
