I am Canadian citizen and my wife is Pakistani, we have two kids both are born Canadian citizens. As a sponsor of my wife, I have sent her application on 6th August and received on 8th at Mississauga as indicated by FedEx tracking. Wife's medical was upfront and done on July 24, 2014. We both are in Pakistan right now, I am living exclusively there. Haven't heard anything yet, waiting for good news!! Kindly put it on spread sheet
Welcome!

Hi all,

I haven't been on here since I updated with the fact that we received our COPR (2 months ago), so excuse my absence. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are landing at Pearson tomorrow (!!!!!) and we will update you with how the process goes. As ever, good luck to those who are still waiting.
Congratulations and good luck to you!! :)

Interesting, I wonder what the criteria is??

It would be nice if CIC could announce these changes!!

There dosent seem to be any pattern to this so far eg married or common law or with kids, countries lived in etc

I remember KarlR saying he lives in Australia right now and I think I read somewhere that Brucem had a Canadian daughter

Anyway good luck to you all, hopefully you are right Brucem on your theory... I wonder where an interview would be held if needed?!
Just spotted this! This was added to the CIC website in May this year. It looks like if you are not close to your local processing Visa Office they could conduct a video interview from your nearest CIC office!
www .cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/interview/applicant/video.asp (I'm not allowed to post a working link...so remove the space after the www to use this)

Thanks James, never heard of a video interview before but that's probably because interviews for London apps are rare

I've posted the working link for anyone who's interested

So you basically waited 8 months before hearing anything about your application being In Process? Okay, obviously I was hoping for a miracle 6-month turnaround but given that fact I'll just continue waiting. I'm still honestly unsure whether there's any type of order to which files they look at -- which is unfortunate but not surprising.

Also, in regards to your note about the Criminal Record waiver, could you explain your situation further if possible? My wife had lived in Dubai for more then 6 months and as such we were required to obtain a Criminal Record Check from there ... The Criminal Record Check was only valid for 3 months (which I find total bull*censored word*) and unfortunately we were unable to send the application form in time prior to the expiry date of the Criminal Record Check. This delay was caused in large part because my wife was living in Cairo during the Revolution that took place and made it very difficult to obtain Criminal Record Checks from the Egyptian government. I wrote a long letter explaining our situation and the reason the Dubai Criminal Record Check was expired ... I really hope they accept it as it is extremely difficult and costly to obtain another one, especially when you are not residing in the UAE and need to have one sent to you.

Also, if certain applications are being routed to Ottawa instead of being sent to the London Visa Office ... will those applications be processed faster? If so, that seems quite unfair to all those who have been patiently waiting to hear any updates (not that being "fair" matters) ...

Appreciate your reply and look forward to hearing from you.

My husband is an oil worker on rotation, for a period of time that included working offshore Dubai. That required him to have a residence visa for the country in order to do his job. He wasn't there long, barely enough to fit the 6 month requirement for police checks but only just. Since my husband's visa lapsed instead of being cancelled he is not allowed back into Dubai until it is formally cancelled. Which takes a lot of time and effort normally even if all things gog to plan, we got the police check request during ramadan which just made it that much harder. The other way to get it, if you can't obtain it via direct method (which the lapse visa impossible for us) would be through that country's embassy where you are. Cyprus does not have one for any of the UAE countries/zones so that crossed the only other way off. So Our lawyers had us do a list of reasons why it was not possible to get it done for the high commission. That got sent off and 6 weeks later we found out they did wave it.

Now we're being asked for a Saudi police check, which may also be a headache but my husband works on rotation out of there now so we might actually be able to get it. However it might also be a headache, we're going to try and get it for them but we're not sure if it is possible. Most times Canada does not ask for police checks from Saudi because of how impossible it can be. It's 50/50 on if we may also need to get this one waived.

Our application is "in process" on ECAS beginning July 18th. Still haven't heard anything. Isn't it unusual that it takes this long to have a decision once it's "in process"? I've been seeing on the spreadsheet that it takes anywhere from a few days to a month for decision made once it's in process.

On our SA, it says "You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing."

It doesn't state the visa office... should we be worried it's sent to the wrong place, or not sent abroad at all?

Thanks

Underneath that part of your SA it should say something like

Direct all questions to
"then it lists the visa office address" which for me was London

Are you sure there's no address? Any where on the email or SA?

If not I would send London an email and ask and that may get the ball rolling on your decision made status as well :)

Don't worry to much though, if your status is in process someone somewhere is looking at your application

Ok yes it seems yours is being fully processed in Mississauga

This is a good thing as there are a few other people on the forum who have had this and they have had super quick turn around

Check out the May Outland thread I believe someone posted there recently who got there copr in 3 months with there entire app being done in Mississauga

In process is a good sign, fingers crossed you should have decision made soon

You are still significantly under the normal processing time so I would not worry.

Also, ECAS is notorious for not being updated in a timely fashion, and sometimes not at all. Also, there are 3 other applications that went in process in June or July and have not had a decision made.
