Statutory declarations and other annoying things
Hi Everybody,
I'm being sponsored by my common-law partner and we're currently scrambling to get all our documents together.
having spoken to CIC yesterday they said a Common-law declaration is not required, only if you have a co-signer who is sponsoring(?). Anyway, reading a few forums it sounds like most people end up having to send the declaration anyway, but it varies by visa office. Does anybody have any insight into whether we should send one in from the start?
I was also told on the phone yesterday that statutory declarations did not need to be notarized...but it seems that by definition a statutory declaration is a notarized statement...so I'm guessing we should get 2 or more of our references signed in presence of an official?
If anyone has any useful insights or experience that would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
