I have a question - can I work in Canada as a UK citizen before getting my PR? I have read on the CIC site that I can enter Canada as a 'Business Visitor' for 6 months. In my job working for a design company I work from home so practically I can pretty much work from anywhere that has an internet connection.
We're currently still at the 'Application Received' stage on our PR Application. We were thinking about booking our flights now, for later in the year, in order to take advantage of cheap flights. We're thinking of this because:
Our application could be considered fairly standard - I haven't moved around, and have no medical/criminal issues.
We see other people who are around 1-2 months ahead of us in dates beginning to get their applications changing to 'In Progress'.
Based on the progress we've seen on here, we're figuring we could be sorted by September/October, so would book flights for November to give a little cushion. If the PR hasn't come through by then, I'm wondering if I can just go anyway and enter initially as a 'Business Visitor' until my PR arrives.
Would such a move jeopardize the application, as it's a change in details?
Is it too risky? We're making an assumption of 6 months processing time.
For clarity, here's our current timeline:
