Hey DGT

How have you found the house buying process with regards to credit history in Canada? We're in the process of setting up accounts with HSBC in Canada because we bank with them in the UK and they said that our credit history could transfer over which sounds good in theory...
Hehe. Buying a house... I'm a poverty stricken 25 year old! No hope of me getting a mortgage any time soon! But, in so far as credit your credit will not carry over. However, I believe that both HSBC and AMEX will give credit based on foreign credit files! So you will have a good start if they are willing to get you set up with a credit card and mortgage etc!

Otherwise, I would recommend Scotiabank as being the best bank for newcomers here!

Decision made 28/3/2013. GCMS notes show London forgot about my file until I emailed them in February...
So I woke up this morning and checked my emails in my phone. I had an email from the ECAS tracker saying that my ECAS had been updated. I thought that finally this thing was over and I could move on with my life.

I get to work, log into ECAS, no change.

So I checked the email and it turns out this is just the tracker only now emailing me to say my application went 'in progress' - which it did over 6 weeks ago on December 10th.

At this point I'm pretty sure someone is just toying with me.

I created a v.2 of the spreadsheet. Thoughts? I am not sure adding the extra non visa exempt section works, might just take that out...

I'm sure this has been discussed, but wondering if the London processing time of 9 months....,is this from when they receive my application(December) or when I sent it off in the first place(October)?
On a plus, my husband has been in kelowna BC for 1 week, he's found a flat to move to next week and 2 hopeful job interviews! I just wanna be over there already!
Xx
the 9 months are for stage 2, so for when London received your application. December I'm afraid! stage 1 has a different count on CIC website.
Good luck!

When i click on Application Received link (under PR application section rather than Sponsorship, which is 'Decision Made') it gives me the date it arrived in Miss. and also says 'Medical Results received' below that - is that a good indication that London VO now has my file?
It's an indication that most likely London has your file. And it will always show the date that it arrived in Mississauga...
Good luck!

Hi peeps! Just got an email from London....surprised they didn't make me was it the full 28 days!
I was asking about my medicals as they expire next month. They have said they're applying for an extension and my file is waiting food review....this is good right?
It is good news! because they only ask for an extension of medicals IF it's the only thing missing to issue the PR. So most likely they have all the documents now, and once they get the medicals extension they can issue the PR - definitely a step forward!

Ecas tracker did the same for me. It sent me a mail to say that a decision had been made about 6 weeks after it actually happened.. pretty useless. I had signed in to get some peace of mind and not check ecas every 3h, but then figured out that it was not very useful and went back to the obsessive checking.

Hey,

thanks for that! it looks better and more organized. I think it might be easier to read if we include the info for the non-visa-exempt in the process, as it's one of the factors that can slow down the process, but not the only one - extra documents can also be useful.
Here is another way of organising the columns ( it's the same as the ones you proposed, but just an added one with Extra document Request, and in a different order).

Application received in Mississauga / Sp. Approval / Sponsor Approval time /In Process / Extra documents request ? /Non Visa Exempt? /Interview date/ Time From Interview To Decision /Decision Made /Time from sponsor approval to DM/ Total time to process /Common - Law (CL) Married (M) / Comments

If not clear like this, let me know and I'll send it in another format!
thanks,
Sweden

I changed it to make it simple. Also changed the colours so red = done, yellow = stage 1 done and we can make pre-stage 1 another colour. I cut out the columns so they show the process in the most simple and easy to read form, moving all other things to the notes. Also everything now fits onto the screen Think that looks better?

Ecas still says application received. I have decided not to go with that anymore tho. Seems like they cant be bothered with updating it so i doubt if its a true reflection of where your file actually is in terms of processing.

We sure will.
Yes Ecas is not very reliable, but I guess it is the only way of getting any sort of information about your file.
I think yours will being going 'in process' soon, because when we sent our additional documents ours changed to 'in process'. Not like it has done us any good so far though.

Indeed! :) I'll add you, no worries - you're now in row 114, according to sponsorship approval date.

Ok so for the v.2 I have simplified everything to give the information quickly and easily. I also fixed the stats at the bottom and was adding more but got bored so I'll have to come back to this. I like it now but what are other's thoughts?

I am buying a house and have had two Pre-approvals for mortgages already with HSBC Canada and we remain in the UK until the PR comes through. They did run the check initially in canada and them uses the UK details.

Awesome! I guess HSBC show the benefits of going with a global bank. I hope you find a beautiful home!
