Hi michty6.

Just wondering if you sent just copies of your stamped passport pages or your partner's as well? - it only asks for "your sponsor's" passport pages. - I suppose it is better to be safe than sorry and send them anyway, if you or others can confirm what you did for this, that'd be great!
I didn't send copies with the new travel form they requested as I had already sent copies of both my and my partner's stamped passport pages with the original application. The reason was that I considered the holidays and travels we did together proof of our relationship, so included them. I don't think (unless you need them for this purpose) that you need to include your partners stamps, I haven't seen any need for this anywhere.

(I even matched up our stamps to show the countries we entered together and indexed everything for CIC. My whole application was indexed with a contents list and every page numbered - I figured making it as easy as possible for CIC would speed up my application. Oh how naive I was!)

So I waived bye to my husband at the bus station yesterday :( he's currently on a plane to Calgary to spend a night in Banff (where we met) then off to Kelowna to find us a flat and him a job. So wish we had got to go together! I applied in October, hoping that I have COPR by may 1st as that seems to be the first date for flights direct from Glasgow.
This forum has helped me so much, but I read things and worry so much that I have missed things from our application. We've been married almost 3 years and together for 7. I really look forward to the day this is over!
I've sent an email to London as they had my address wrong and also asked if I would need a new medical done as my current one is up on march 24th. Should I let them know my husband is now in Canada? Hope they reply to me soon and don't make me wait the 28 days!
Hopefully you won't need to extend the medicals! and hopefully London will answer... there are several ways that can go: either they answer telling you that they are close to finalizing your application, so no need for new medicals ( then you know you're close!) or they tell you to do a new medicals, or they tell you that they have asked for an extension ( which is good news, because it means that they are close to finalizing your file as well). Or - they don't answer because they are close to finalizing your PR and know that they can issue the PR before the 24th of March... but of course it would be best if they answered!
Fingers crossed for you,
Sweden

Hi All, i had interview today and interviewer said he is satisfied, now i have wait for next step.

Do you think is there any chance they can reject the application later?

Regards
Glad to hear it went well - it's an important step! they are still probably doing the background checks, so it might take a while, but if there is nothing special, then your PR should be coming in a few weeks/months - keep us informed!

If allowed to, I am going to tidy up the spreadsheet. Some ideas, see what people think:

- Potentially create separate tabs for non visa exempt and visa exempt applications? I think putting in the visa exempt with the non visa exempt skews the spreadsheet (and average times) a little since non visa exempt applications by their very nature take a lot longer. Could also add in more columns and more information for non visa exempt applications, such as interview required, interview date, time from interview to COPR.
- Get rid of 'Application sent to Mississauga' column. Don't think we really need to know this, only the date (or rough date) CIC received it.
- Get rid of 'AOR from London' date. Since London doesn't actually issue AOR's and this column has absolutely no relevance to processing times (the fact the application has been received means little, when it starts to be 'in process' and under review is much more meaningful), we don't really need it?

Willing to add other stuff too if people are interested...

I think it's a good idea. Try it out. If it sucks we can just go back to a previous revision :p

Someone also mentioned starting a new tab for 2013 which seems like a good idea, too.

I agree for a little update! but try and keep it simple ( the spreadsheet in general) as it needs to be passed on to others later on...
I would rather keep all applications (visa exempt and not) together, as there are many factors that can impact the length of process, and visa-exempt is only one of them... some non-visa-exempt applicants also go through quicker than others, and it feels like going too much into details. Also - visa-exempt might have a faster processing but if the travel history is long, or a form is missing, or the case is not very straightforward ( previous relationship/marriage/sponsorship) etc, then it will get delayed as well... so if possible, I would rather keep all applicants together, and keep a column for "special mention" (missing form, missing police check, non visa exempt, etc).
Interview column would be good - I agree! and it will help to see how long it takes
-get rid of application sent - yes, we mostly need when it was received in Mississauga and when it was approved as a sponsor
-AOR from London: the only ones I have seen is for people intending to go to QUebec as there is an extra step. Maybe could be replaced by "communication from London" - as that happens more than an AOR itself.

thanks!

Yeh I'll make a v.2 and keep the original one as is. People can then decide if we should change it to the new version or not...

So. Today has not gone well. I went to get my medical done, but somehow along the way I lost my passport. So no medical, no passport for 6 weeks and $250 for to get a replacement from the consulate, as well as untold delays in my visa because I can't do the medical AND because my new passport will not be the same as the one I applied on.

That is, unless some good citizen of TO hands in my passport to the Police.

Ouch! that's a bad day indeed! sorry to hear that. hope your passport shows up soon - there are lots of nice people in TO ( and in Canada in general - I lost my driver's license last week and somebody gave me a call to come and pick it up - so there is hope!).

New passport for the visa - that shouldn't create delays, as soon as you have the new one you can send a scanned version to London and they will update your file... but I hope it won't be necessary!

Hi there everybody.

I am currently getting everything together for a common law outland application through the london office. I am from the UK and currently in Canada on a second year IEC.
My girlfriend is a Canadian citizen of course and will be the one sponsoring me. I have no Children. We have cohabited in a relationship for just under 1 year and 11 months.

I have 3 questions so far. Mostly in regards to the country specific checklist criteria.

1. Do both myself and my girlfriend(the sponsor) need a medical or is it just myself?
2. Do I need to send a set of the 8 Immigration Photos for just myself or should I include another set for my girlfriend?
3. I have my police certificate but does my girlfriend also need a police check?

I understand that 'family' refers to your spouse, yourself and your children. So as you can see it is the spouse bit that has me wondering if I need her to do the medical, police check and photo's.

Any experienced answers to these questions would be very much appreciated.

Hey, and welcome!

Medicals, 8 pictures and police certificate is only for yourself! :) as the applicant. The sponsor doesn't need any of that.
Good luck,
Sweden

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm hoping Karma will reward me for returning a wallet I found to it's owner the other day. Being from Glasgow though, my in-built misanthropy leaves me with little hope.

Sorry to hear about your passport :(. I am sure there are still some good people left in this world. :)
