Anyway, just saying hi, really :)
Hey again! :) and welcome to the thread. Some applications got processed super fast but there doesn't seem to be a specific reason. Visa-exempt are processed faster than non-visa exempt (applicants going through the UK Visa office because they are resident of the UK but a different nationality, non european), and "simple" application are also faster - but sometimes some applications get stuck for "no good reason", so I hope it won't be your case.
Wish you a fast processing! and you'll be in good company here for sure!

Hi All,

I logged into my e-cas thingy and it says this under application received.

"We received your application for permanent residence on October 24, 2012.

Medical results have been received."
This date is the date Mississauga received the file, but i thought the medicals go straight to London, am i right in thinking that this means that London now have my application and my medicals? or just my medicals?

Why can't they be clearer!

From what I've read and was told when I read that on my ecas, it seems that everything is now in London. I wasn't able to log on to ecas until after sponsorship approval (I'm not sure if that's hot because I don't know I could or if you can) so presumably was is available once application had reached London?? That's my though anyway!

It's hard for sure - and especially when you're so close to the end of the process.... there is a moment where it becomes just "unbearable" and it feels like days are not passing fast enough.... but in general that's when the COPR arrives! and seeing your timeline, you should be pretty close to getting a DM, if your file is straightforward, as it seems that they are working on files that arrived end of August/beginning of September - hang in there, you'll hear soon! now that holidays are over, the VOs should be back to work full speed!
Sweden
Thanks Sweden. Wise words as always ;)
It really has become unbearable. I have still been checking everyday even though I know they're closed! I hope you're right and DM is around the corner! You will her me screaming all over the country ;D

Hi everyone,
i have just joined this forum but have been reading most of the posts for months, my situation is that my wife is Canadian we`ve been married 6 years in August i`m British from liverpool, we are both living in the Merseyside area.
We decided after a lot of thought that Canada has to be the place to go and started the ball rolling in July by sending off our application.
My wife was approved to sponsor me on the 16th October 2012 and according to ecas, Meds have been received (but they never say where) :( i assume London but who knows could be Alligator Creek in Australia ;D.
It seems everyone has to be patient and play the waiting game, it really is soul destroying but in the end ....hey!!! you get where you want to go to.
I see from some of the posts that London is processing September apps so i guess we might be next fingers crossed if anyone knows anything more positive please share it,
Good Luck folks.

Hey mickmerf1,

Welcome to the forum and to the thread! it's always difficult to know how far along the road... but if you look at the spreadsheet ( link is in my signature) you can see that they have approved quite a few that got sponsorship approval late august... and starting September. So my guess is that you won't hear much ( and most likely nothing at all if your application is complete) for another month and a half... but of course - it's a guess... my advice would be to not worry about it ( easier said than done, I know...) until mid february, and hopefully then you'l log into ecas and see either "inprocess" or "decision made". The good point is that now you have "medicals have been received", which is not very clear, but tells you that most likely your file has reached London and the medicals have been matched with it ( when you do the medicals, they go straight to the VO, and then once your file is approved for sponsorship by Mississauga, then it goes to London where the 2 pieces of information are put together).

If you want to be on the spreadsheet, feel free to add yourself, by order of approval date. If you're not comfortable doing it, post here when your medicals were done, and I'll add you directly.

Good luck,
Sweden

The date on ecas is always the "first date" that Mississauga received your file, it doesn't update to when London got your file. Medicals indeed go straight to London and they "wait" for your file to arrive after the sponsorship part. So seeing "medicals have been received" means that most likely your file is in London now, and it's complete has medicals have been matched.

You still have quite a bit to wait according to the spreadsheet.
GOod luck,
Sweden

My wife submitted our application on the 18th October and it was received in Mississauga on the 19th. She received her sponsor approval on the 6th November, which was a lot quicker than the number of days specified on the immigration processing times page! Obviously we still have a few months to wait in stage 2 as a best case scenario, so I'm trying not to think about it too much at the minute. Am I right to consider the 6th November our AOR? And is that roughly when London will have received my application?

I'd fill out the timeline on my profile but I guess I'm not allowed to as I haven't reach the post criteria for this forum.

Also, I entered Canada to spend some time with my wife and take some of my belongings over about a month and a half ago. Originally I intended to return to England just after Christmas and make a return trip to Canada so I could organise the rest of my belongings and see family who I wouldn't be seeing for a while, but I couldn't bear leaving my wife so we decided that I'd just stay and miss my return flight. We can see my family and get my belongings in order when I fly back to pick up my PR. I was wondering though, would staying in Canada longer than I said I would when I landed cause a problem? I don't have a return date stamped in my passport, just the date I landed, so I assume I'm good for 6 months - but obviously when I spoke to the border control person I said I'd be staying a shorter time, and I also filled that time span on my customs form.

I'm pretty sure I'm OK as like I said I don't have a specific return date stamped in my passport, but I don't want to overstay and jeopardize my application!

Hey Korma,

Welcome to the thread. 6th of November is your sponsorship approval, and normally the files are transferred to london a few days after that. However, there is no way with the current system ( ecas) to know exactly when your file arrived in London. Sometimes London will let you know, but that's more the exception than the rule, so for now you just have to assume that your file is in London.

You'll be able to complete your profile info once you posted 10 times, so one more to go and you can update it! you can also add yourself to the spreadsheet ( link in my signature), or if you're not comfortable with spreadsheets, let me know and I can do it for you.

I'm not entirely sure about the length of stay question - I would assume you're ok as long as you don't overstay your visa, and no stamp indeed means 6 months. You can also extend it ( apply at least 30 days in advance, online) if needed. You can also change the address on ecas so that the COPR is sent to your address in Canada, so you receive it, and can "activate it" by going to the US border if you want - and go and pick up your things at another time, not necessary linked to the visa timing. Might be less stressful like this, because you can actually plan for it and not depend on CIC and the PR issuance.

Good luck with your application,
Sweden

I'm in the same position as you mate! My wife and I had been living in Scotland for years, but she had to move home at fairly short notice for work. I went with her to help get set up with a place to live and stuff. Now my return flight back to Scotland is at the end of the month and I just don't know if i can face being apart! We've had to do it once before when she got her visa to come back to the UK (after we lived down under). I'd just wait it out if I were you! In my past dealings with CBSA I once landed in Halifax without a copy of my return ticket on me. I was returning within 2 months, but because the officer was a little wary about me he amended my stay time so that my duration of stay could not be longer than the time that I had stated. To cut a long story short, without them actively doing that on your landing, you have nothing to worry about. It certainly wouldn't hurt to contact CBSA and give them a later departure date off the top of your head though. Best of luck with your application! Our applications arrived on the same day so I expect we'll follow a similar timeline!

Cheers,

DGT

Thanks for the info Sweden.

Well, consider this post my allowance to update my timeline :). I'll add myself on to the spreadsheet shortly - I've had a look at it a couple of times now and it looks like some people are being processed nice and quick, while others aren't have much luck. I'm hoping the processing time for stage 2 will be 6 months at the most for me, but I guess I'm at the mercy of the VOs in London.

I've considered changing my address to my address in Canada. How do I do this on ECAS? I can only seem to log on using my wife's details and obviously her address is already in Canada. I tried entering my name and DOB with both the UCI and file number but neither worked. Hmm. When I go to activate my PR I'm leaning towards flying to England regardless, I guess it depends on how soon my wife can get time off work when we've received it.

I'm kind of put off about going to the States. We crossed the bridge in Niagara Falls to use some casino money we got through a hotel package deal and ended up waiting for 3 hours in a crowded room for them to let me through. Very stressful as I had no idea what was happening! We spent more time waiting to get into the States than we did actually in the States!

I suspect when my PR is sent my medicals will be close to expiring, so maybe it's best to enter and turn around there.
