Tack Yasiin! :) yes indeed - the whole process went "fast" now that's it's over, but of course it felt like it was taking forever before that! hope you're settling into your new life in Canada !

hey congrats sweden and seamyb on recieving your COPR!!! so happy for you guys ;D we have decided to take the plunge and have booked tickets to go "home" to canada dec 12 to spend christmas with family and friends, were taking a big risk as we have no copr as of yet but fingers crossed if we dont end up getting it on time, they will let us in with not too much fuss...otherwise, we will come back on the return flight 2 weeks later and just wait it out but hopefully that wont have to happen since we will be jobless and homeless by then...with less than 3 weeks to go, were racing against the clock to sort out our apt, ship boxes home and tie up loose ends. will be a bit of a mad next couple weeks, will keep ya posted!

Hey Kaede,

That is the exact date I am going to book. I am waiting a little longer to see if COPR comes through the door. I am flying to Calgary from LGW. Like yourself I couldn't wait any longer. I grew tired of waiting and decided I would wait the last of the process out in Canada and enjoy Xmas with my family, rather than being apart, checking ECAS frantically. lol

Mine was issued on the 13th, the same day they started processing it!! Weird. I guess it doesn't take them long to make it through the phone book size application we submitted.

Hi guys,

Since my husband was asked to send in communication proof we are gathering all the proof we can.
What is a good amount of pictures that we should send from the time we have spent together?
We have spent about 4 months together and we have A LOT of pictures, but we cant send all of them....so what would be a good number?
Thank you for any suggestions :)

Hey chopsticks,

the best is probably to choose from special events, where it shows you and your husband meeting friends and family, and maybe some "daily activities", or some concerts, to show what is your life about, and what you do together as a couple. It's important that you also show the VO that your friends, family are aware of your relationship and they approve of it, and that you are integrated... I don't think that anybody can really tell you how many pictures, but remember - more picture won't necessary convince the VO if they are only showing one side of your relationship.
Good luck!

Good luck with the packing etc, indeed it's a bit of a race, but you'll have time to rest when you get to Canada! :) and I think that going to Canada will help with the stress - at least you have something else to do than checking ecas in the coming weeks! :) and immigration should be OK - a lot of people have done it without trouble.

Landed! today I officially became a PR of Canada :) very easy and friendly process... Sunny day in Victoria made for a nice ferry ride to the US and back. THe border officer was very friendly and not in a hurry (not many people flagpole in Victoria! :) ), took his time to welcome me to Canada, and explain the basics ( PR residency obligations etc). all in all, it's really difficult to realise it's finally over after the waiting, checking ecas etc...
Good luck to all still waiting, and I'll stick around - now I'm officially unemployed! :)

Best of luck with everything and enjoy your new life in Canada ;D

Hiya, yeah we just couldnt stand hanging and waiting any longer so we took a bit of a risk and just booked flights! I would recommend using expedia.ca so you are paying in canadian rather than in pounds, I just had a peek and it was just over 1100cdn per person london gatwick to calgary non-stop(9h20min) on air transat return with the hopes that we dont have to use the return portion...good luck to us both!hope you are prepared for the -20 weather, I was born in calgary so if you have any questions, feel free to ask! heres hoping we can enjoy turkey with our families ;D

Congrats Sweden.
I am non visa exempt but...I have a multi entry visa for Canada which expires at the end of 2013....does this mean I won't have to submit my pp for entry? I find their timeline for non visa exempt apps ridiculous as it took me a few hours at the London VO to get an entry visa.
Any ideas?

I'm just about to make the Air Transat jump myself this week but have opted out of the return option.

Sure you are already aware- but Transat/ Canadian Affair nearly always have discounts available via promotion codes, it may be worth taking a browse online to try and track one down before you book. If you're registered with them then I think you will already have e-mails with codes on.

Not sure why you would book a 1 way when it has a lot of complications, especially considering buying a return is about £8 cheaper. I am looking at 12th December with a return flight (one I doubt I will use) in May for £548. If I try and book a 1 way it comes out at £556.

If your refused at the border and have bought a 1 way, it is the duty of the airline to get you home. Hence their 1 way ticket has an unseen return built in.
