its costing $280. the lawyer will read it and then we meet with him the following day to hear his assessment and any corrections. hopefully not many! i believe it will then be a further cost to us if we choose to have him represent us. we shall decide how important that is, and how much more it will cost at the end of the meeting.
That's not too bad really, thanks for letting me know. I'm going to read mine through tonight (with a cold beer in hand) and see how it goes. I'm pretty sure I've covered everything.... *gulp*

I've just paid my fees, so if my second notarized letter arrives tomorrow (which it should) and the RCMP come through with my background check (which I asked the lady very nicely if she could process it as soon as possible) then the whole thing will be with Fed Ex by tomorrow afternoon.

Hi everyone,

I sent off my application back around the very end of April and, since then, I've not received any form of notification whatsoever. I was kinda expecting to at least receive a letter of acknowledgement, or something like that. Is this normal? Should I not expect any contact until my wife is approved as a sponsor?

Thanks!

Hey Cat-herder,

it is "normal" indeed... some people get an AOR when their application is received, but most people don't... and only hear from CIC when the sponsor is approved. CIC is now working on applications around the 17th of April ( the website says 11th, but if you look at the April Thread and the spreadsheet, then you will see that up to the 23rd has been approved I think)... so your turn should come soon, this coming week or the one after. You might still get an AOR and a few days later your approval...

Good luck!

Ah that's great. Thanks so much for your reply; it's good to have some peace of mind, and the CIC website is ridiculously unhelpful!

Hi all, just wondering if there is a more updated spreadsheet I don't know about for the London offices. The one I'm looking at has only 2 people approved for 2012 no one in April and May with sponsorship approval (which i hope isnt the case!) Thanks :)

indeed - the CIC website is a bit of a waste of time... the only thing it is good for is that you know that if your application has been received passed the date on their website, you can call and inquire about your file. If you call before that, they'll tell you to wait...

if you want to join the april thread, here it is http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/april-2012-applicants-join-here-t100105.1710.html and you can send a message to Sunshine87 to be added to the spreadsheet - or just post a message in the thread, Sunshine87 is usually pretty good at following what is going on.

Here is the link to the spreadsheet itself https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnHHo8yCde0sdFBRTDVManRkQmoyejhaTjBGdG8tUWc#gid=0 as you can see the last approval is 17th April, but a few more people have received AOR as well, so your turn should be soon!

Good luck,
Sweden

Hey Dawlphin_17,

the spreadsheet for London is updated by PinkLady, but probably it's holidays time, so it's not very updated.

From following other threads, I can see that almost everyone before my name has been approved, and me included ( last friday, 13th July). CIC is also working on the last part of May, so quite a few people have been approved until then as well.

Hope that helps! otherwise see my previous post with the link to the April spreadsheet ( for all applicants, not only London, but there are a few of us from London VO in april), it will give you a better idea!

Cheers,
Sweden

Oh god...why didn't I find/read this forum sooner?! :-[

I've just realised that I misread the visa application, and only paid the $475 part of the sponsor fee, and not the $75 bit. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to resolve this at this point? Can I ring up the Canadian call centre (the 1-888-242‑2100 one) and arrange to make an additional payment or something like that? Or are they going to just send the whole lot back, meaning I have to reapply from scratch?

Holy moly, this is a disaster!

I am not sure how to add a payment, but if you do it, make sure that you pay the total amount that should be 1040 - pay upfront the right of permanent residence, it will save time at the end of your application - you can also pay it later but it will add further delay (1 or 2 months sometimes) - so if you can, pay the total amount (1040 is for one spouse, no children).

One of the more senior member will probably respond - but I think you can do the extra payment, then send a letter to CIC with the receipt, and hopefully they will be able to match it up with your application.

Not sure if it's better to wait until you have a file number, if would make it easier to match for sure. Considering that your application has been received at the end of april, they should be opening it soon. So - my suggestion was to pay as soon as possible the total fee, and have your receipt ready. When they open your application, they might send you an email or snail mail requesting the fee - then you can send it right away, and it should not hold up your application too long. It shouldn't put you back into the queue or anything like this.

Don't be discouraged - it can be fixed! :)
Good luck,
Sweden

Hello,

We have an update for the spreadsheet. We had posted last week about receiving AOR by e-mail. We just received sponsor approval by mail. The letter is dated July 12th. Our application had originally been received April 19th.

Based on the date on the letter, it would make sense to amend the AOR date to July 12th as well - we received the e-mail on July 13th in the UK but it would have been 5 hours earlier in Mississauga.

Good luck to all,
Emhub
