Hey,

It seems that quite a few people are waiting to hear from London.

My file has just been transferred to London ( got sponsor approval on friday 13th) and I can already log in ecas, it just says that my file has been received on the 12th of April, nothing else.

I need to send additional documents to London (some criminal records that took a while to get) - can I already send them quoting my UCI or shall I wait for London to contact me first ? My medicals should be there already ( the DMP said it would take about a month to get there, and I did mine in February), so I suppose they will be able to match them soon with my application, but I was just wondering if I should wait or not - any advice is very welcome...

thanks!
Cheers,
Sweden

Hey Sweden

Congrats on stage 1 complete!!! I have AOR as well but my wife is out of town so desperately waiting for her to open that envelope when she gets back on Tuesday to see if she has been approved.

I also need to send further supporting documents to our case (as somebody forgot to add a large chunk to my application when she received it) so I think what you do is make sure London is in receipt of your documents and send all your additional documents you wish to send with your file I.D, Ecas, D.O.B and names of both applicants and addresses so that they can merge your additional info with your original application.

Also I am curious to know of 2 things. I wish to visit my wife this summer in Canada, will there be a problem with border control knowing I am married to a Canadian woman and that I am applying for PR (Will they refuse entry on the grounds they think I wont leave?). Also I am hoping to stay in Canada from early December on a visitor Visa if I dont have COPR until the process is finished, I.E I will stay hopefully on a 6 month visa and in that time my application should be granted. Once again will there be a problem with border control as some people have said this may be grounds to refuse entry. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!! :D

If you are British, I can't imagine having any problem, since my husband did the exact same thing 4 weeks ago. Here is my post about it

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/our-dual-intent-entry-moving-before-pr-issued-t110872.0.html

Just don't say you are moving over completely, try to have ties to the UK in case your visa application gets rejected (unlikely) but that is what the Canadian High Commission in London told me when I asked about my husband doing this.

Hey Bally and R151NG5UN,

Thanks both for your answers.

I am also planning on moving to Canada in october, without a visa, and will prepare with a return flight, that I have no intention to use, but you never know... I hope that my application will be approved by then, but nothing for sure...

I'll try to send the additional documents in the coming days and see if London has received it, but I doubt I will hear from them... just have to wait I guess..

R151NG5UN: I hope that you are approved, soon you should know! we got the approval by mail on friday, so I guess my file should reach London this week...

Cheers,
Sweden

Wow Congratulations, I got excited too on reading that, I have been trying to figure out how long London take to deal with a file. You are six weeks ahead of us.

A friend of mine applied back in January and got accepted today. thats only 7 montns. amazing. he applied as common-law and as an outbound app even though hes actually in canada on a work visa. good for him. i shall be applying under pretty much the exact same app very shortly. iv completed all the paper work myself and me and my partner are choosing to pay for an immigration lawyer to look over it before its sent. we only really want to do this app one time so paying for a professional to check it seems worth it.

Congrats to everyone getting their approvals :)

So hopefully my application will be going in by the end of the week. It's a couple of weeks later than I had hoped, but I was still waiting for my police certificate and needed to get all my notarized stuff done. Just waiting for the notarized letter from my boyfriends' parents and that's it. Yay!

With regards to that letter, the original one that his mother took to the notary was apparently not really going to help our application so the lawyer told her some other details she should include, and also told to keep it factual and to not really touch on the 'emotional' side of things. Which is fair enough and the revised letter looks great, but now I am wondering if the letter my closest friend wrote (and had notarized) is not going to be good enough, as it doesn't include exact dates or anything. Would anyone be able to take a look at the letter and let me know what they think? My boyfriend thinks it sounds fine and I'm guessing the lawyer didn't really read or have a problem with the letter as my friend never mentioned anything.

All the facts about when you moved in together and joint bank accounts and whatever are included in the supporting documents and also my Development of Relationship and Additional Details write up in the Sponsored Spouse/Partner Questionnaire, so I would have thought the letter was a more personal account of the relationship?

Would anyone be happy for me to PM them the letter so they could take a look? Every time I read it back, I just worry more that it's not good enough.

Thanks very much :)

That's awesome, good luck with your application. How much is it costing for you to have it checked over, if you don't mind me asking?

its costing $280. the lawyer will read it and then we meet with him the following day to hear his assessment and any corrections. hopefully not many! i believe it will then be a further cost to us if we choose to have him represent us. we shall decide how important that is, and how much more it will cost at the end of the meeting.
