Random Question.....but is there anything like Argos in Ontario? I'm wanting nice but not too expensive bedroom furniture. The nearest Ikea is Toronto and that's like 2hrs away. I've looked at the Walmart catalog (he hee getting into the North American spelling) and they have some decent stuff, but wondered if anyone knows of anywhere else?

Hi,

I came across http://edmonton.flyerland.ca/products in my search.

Best,

Can I get a link to the spreadsheet?

Also, I mailed my application today!!!! Eeeeeek! Super nervous and super excited. Our situation right now is beyond ridiculous and once I get my PR, life is finally going to go the right way!

Link to the spreadsheet is beneath all my posts.
You are now added :)

Hi,

my wife is Canadian, I am British. Do our children need to go through the sponsorship process or can we apply for their citizenship once we arrive in Canada?

If they DO need to go through the sponsorship process (which is a little silly), then do they need to x-rays?

Many thanks!

Yes, good luck to both of us! Feels so good to have it in! :)

Big Setback

Got an email from London this morning, all excited, I opened it and they wanted further information!!! A WORD TO THE WISE FOR ANYONE STILL COMPLETING FORMS - On the background declaration, when we filled in Question 8 Personal History "Provide the details of your personal history since the age of 18, or the past 10 years, whichever comes first". Unfortunately I misread this and gave them the last 10 years of my personal history. The question could be made a lot clearer.

So now after a trip to UPS, I will have to wait for up to 4 months for my additional info to be reviewed. This process is so difficult! This means another 4 months of waiting for a SIN number!

Hey, that's too bad they needed more info....and whilst I don't want to get your hopes up, it shouldn't take 4 months for them to review the information. I got a letter asking me to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee and it said that that could delay it up to 4 months too, and it was processed with in a week. I'm not saying that yours will get processed within a week but I'm just saying that the 4 months thing seems to be just standard wording and might not take that long.

Fingers crossed you get something soon.

Hi Pinklady

Thanks for adding me to the spreadsheet. My application arrived today (May 2nd)!

Let the waiting game begin. Question - I am in Canada. Do I need to keep extending my visitor visa while I am waiting? Or does the fact that I have applied for PR just automatically let me stay here until I hear word back?

If your wife is a born Canadian or Naturalized, then your kids are already classed as Citizens. They need to apply for Proof of Citizenship, which you should do before you go, as you wiil need the documentation to land and apply to schools.

Helle everyone

Anyone knows how to call CIC from outside?

Thanks in advance

Hey, unfortunately the fact that you have applied for PR doesn't grant you the right to stay. You need to continue to extend your visitor status (if you have a UK passport this is usually a 6 month period - although an extension may not necessarily be another 6 months). If you apply to extend your visitor status then you have "implied status" in Canada until they make the decision i.e. you are allowed to stay in Canada as a visitor whilst waiting for a decision to extend (you may know this already).

Refer to Section 5.2 (page 5) on the manual at this link to get the piece about waiting for permanent residency.
