Hi guys

I am all ready to send my application. Just paying the fees online and wondering what ones I check to pay. Family class or spouse or both?

My boyfriend is sponsoring me and there are just the two of us in the application.

Please reply asap and I am mailing it this afternoon so please add me to the spreadsheet if that applies!

Hey, you want to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee of $490 and also, under Family Class, the Sponsorship Application of $75 and also the Principal Applicant of $475.

So no need for sponsor fees?

The $75 is the sponsor fee. When you say "there are 2 of us on the application" you mean just you and your boyfriend, right? As in, no kids? If it's just you and your boyfriend you just need to pay $75 to have the sponsor approved, then the $475 for the principal applicant's application, and the $490 for the RPRF. You are basically paying for the 3 stages of the process, just all at once.

Thank you.

Yes, there are just two of us.
Him - the sponsor and me - the principal and only applicant. No kids. Thank heavens.

FINALLY!

Hi pinklady!

You can FINALLY put myself & greenman on the list: I just got home from the post office! Our package weighed in at 1.769kg. So glad that it's sent! Now comes the wait.

Thankfully, I'm off to England on June 28th to visit greenman, so the wait isn't spent in different countries.

Good luck to everyone who is just starting to get their application together! :)

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could give me some input; our file is currently "In process" at the London VO since March 16th. On February 29th, my boyfriend received an email from the London VO requesting payment for the PR (we didn't know back in October that waiting to pay that fee could cause delays!) as well as an another police certificate from where we lived when we were studying. I made the payment for the PR immediately, and they received the police certificate on April 4th. Obviously we haven't heard anything yet, but I was hoping we would soon since, according to the spreadsheet, our "turn" should be coming up.....anybody have any experience with waiting times after sending extra documents? they say they could take up to 4 months to process any new documentation, but I'm really hoping for an earlier decision!

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers :-)

Hi vet25,
We are in similar situation. Please see my time-lines.. I received medical request and requests for PCCs from all the 3 countries I lived-in & Permanent residence Fee on 5th Oct 2011. I submitted everything except one PCC and requested a waiver as this was not easy to get this from that country. My request for 1 PCC waiver was rejected and was given 60 days to submit the same. But my e-Cas status updated to "In Process" (Medical Results have been received) by the end of October 2011. Finally I submitted the PCC on 24th March 2012 and it's now more than a month & waiting for the PPR....

Random Question.....but is there anything like Argos in Ontario? I'm wanting nice but not too expensive bedroom furniture. The nearest Ikea is Toronto and that's like 2hrs away. I've looked at the Walmart catalog (he hee getting into the North American spelling) and they have some decent stuff, but wondered if anyone knows of anywhere else?

Can I get a link to the spreadsheet?

Also, I mailed my application today!!!! Eeeeeek! Super nervous and super excited. Our situation right now is beyond ridiculous and once I get my PR, life is finally going to go the right way!

Re: FINALLY!

I just mailed mine today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! to both of us!

My ecas said the same thing as yours. I don't think they would ever request money if the decision wasn't a positive one!So hopefully you should get the COPR soon - mine came after one week of it changing to Decision Made. Fingers crossed you will get it soon!

Thanks Weegie!! keeping fingers and toes crossed!! :-)

Hi Pinklady,

Can you add me to the spreadsheet? App sent on Apr 28. Thanks!

Shopping is one thing that I am not yet used to, and I have been here for over 2 years! In my humble opinion, the shops suck and everything is overpriced! The only places I have bought furniture so far is Ikea, but I live in Toronto so it is easier for me (where are you located?) I have also bought stuff from the Brick and Leon's. As I said, I think everything is overpriced, but when I bought stuff from The Brick, I managed to negotiate a big discount because I was buying a few things. It depends what you are looking for and how much you want to pay. Even IKEA is dear in my opinion.

I don't think they have anything like Argos, unfortunately - not anything that I have come across so far. You could also try Sears, which is like Debenhams and I would try negotiating prices with them too if you are instore (but I think you can order stuff online and get it delivered).

Also, FYI, Next (as in the UK shop) now deliver to Canada, prices include taxes and shipping is free - they also deal with customs (which most of the other UK online shopping websites don't) and stuff arrives in about 3 days. Don't think they do furniture yet, but I have ordered stuff like curtains and pillows and stuff - again things that I find ridiculoulsy expensive here!

I have found that cheap stuff is bad quality and consumer rights are not relied on so much as in the UK! But you need to pay for quality. I try to buy UK brands where possible!

Ok, so call me a cheap Scot, but you will see what I mean soon enough!

If you find anything like Argos, let me know!
