Got my COPR paperwork through the post today, form is dated 16th Jan 2012 and was mailed out on 18th Jan 2012 , received her in Alberta 27th Jan. Just need to figure out what border to present myself to. Have been told, am still looking for confirmation, that as I am in physically in Canada, I can go to a Govt office and achieve same ends. Duty rumour is that there is one in Lethbridge I can use. Am looking into it and will report back.
For any other Brits doing the immigration process, be advised. If you have a military background, London will now ask you for a Military Police check as well as the Civ Pol one done through the ACPO. This is a new thing but very easy to obtain,(And it`s free). I would advise others to get this check done before they ask for it, as not knowing this put my application back by 3 months, didn`t help that the High Commission lost the first copy they were sent!!!!!!!!!!!
So thanks to all the people on here who support each other and let you know that you are not alone and that although you have to jump through hoops it is ultimatly worthwhile.

Congratulations and good tip on the military police check! It's so frustrating when things that you weren't aware of slow you down but so easily could have taken care of when you applied.

Having alternatley had a phone glued to my ear and face stuck to PC screen, I had elicited the info on getting COPR done at Lethbridge, (Or anyother inland CIC office I imagine).
You have to phone the link line number on the instructions sent with your COPR forms, then after being on hold and passed about for about 3/4 of an hour they tell you it can only be done by appointment, and it`s 2 to 3 weeks for an appointment. Then PR card should arrive 30 days after.
Looks like it`s a trip to the border for me then

Congrats VM-BASIC! Can I ask a question please? I'm waiting for my COPR too. I checked last Friday (20 Jan) and my Ecas had been updated on that day to say they'd been processing my file since 17 Jan, and that a decision had been made and the office would contact me etc. So I just wondered from your point of view was your Ecas ever updated, and what the dates were in relation to the letter you got dated 16 Jan, mailed on the 18 Jan? I'm perhaps wishfully thinking that since the decision appears to have been made on 20 Jan in my case, that the letter was mailed out the same day. So far nothing in the post (I'm in Toronto), but was hoping it would at least be next week. Just wondered what your Ecas dates were to give me some kind of idea.

Just got back from a weeks holiday and had secretly hoped our COPR would have been here. Unfortunately not! I see some people have had theirs through and a big congratulations!!
Think we may have delayed ours by not sending the ROPR fee at the start. I would advise everyone to pay it all at once if you can.

Hi all, I'm a bit confused and hope someone can shed some light on my question. My wife and I both live together in the UK, do we still have to send our application to the Mississauga office or to the one in London?

No, it has to be sent to Mississauga. The process the sponsorship application there first and then transfer the PR application to London. Good luck!

Just want to check Im not missing something here. the sponsor bit has been approved now for us - is it still the cic website we check to see the london final stage?

My status is still "application received October 24th" which sucks....I cant see anything about the medical being received or anything, do many people find that they have absolutely no update whatsoever? or should I be checkin a different bit now its in London?

No you're not missing anything. I'd say your experience is pretty common. Same as me. I got sponsor approval on 4th Nov, and Ecas said nothing - just that Sponsor Approval was approved on 4th Nov, and then for PR app it was just that they received the app on 30th Aug. This did not change until 20 Jan, when it went to 'Decision Made'. I am still waiting patiently (ish) for what I hope is going to be my COPR in the post. I'd say factor in a 2 month wait from when your sponsor approval was granted to when you might expect to see a change/update on the PR app.

We just got the email requesting a photocopy of hubby's photo page of passport and a couple of photos and update information chart - I'll go back and read what others have said about that chart - nothing's changed so I think that won't need any information on it.

Can I ask a question off topic please?

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much I can expect to fork out for shipping maybe 3 pallets of boxes to Toronto. Most of the online quote calculators ask you to compile quite a detailed list to give you a quote, and I just don't know what's going or not just yet. It would be helpful to know what the approximate cost of about or 3 or 4 cubic metres might be....

Anyone recently shipped this sort of volume that can shed some light for me?

My ECAS was updated after I had received the COPR. The office did not contact me, just sent the COPR forms to address here in Alberta by international regigistered delivery direct from London, took about 9 days to get here.
The notes that were included in the forms say that because I am from a visa exempt country, 9UK) that they dont need to a passport or visa, just the COPR forms. Hopefully the postman will be bringing you good news soon

Hey no worries VM-BASIC. I certainly hope the postie brings good news this week. Although it is interesting to note that Alltogethernow hasn't received COPR in the mail, but instead was emailed and asked to send photocopies of their passport + pictures etc. Alltogethernow - are you from a country that requires a visa for visiting Canada then? I'm a British citizen & passport holder, so hope it will go straight through to COPR. So now I shall go back to watching the mail box and the inbox just in case!

I too was hoping for a straight COPR which seemed to be the theme there for a few days however, an email came through asking for the photo and personal information page, 2 pics and the updated chart. It seems they're learning as they go following the December 1st change....

Hubs is a British Citizen, England born and bred so no need for a visa to visit. I'm not sure why it took this form, I'm just glad it's come in any form! We're too long in the tooth for all this nailbiting stuff We're off to Walmart for the photos done now and to get the stuff in the courier tonight!

Best of luck - it'll be coming to you soon. We received an email over three weeks ago saying "we'll contact you shortly with the next stage" THREE WEEKS is considered shortly - I guess we all get used to waiting with this game don't we? I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for you for good news this week!
