To our surprise, my CL partner was just pulled at random from the IEC pool and invited to apply for this visa. Does anyone know if we can still apply for IEC? It would be ideal as we can move to Canada while we are awaiting for outland to be approved and he can work on the IEC visa.

Any info would help? Or websites you recommend visiting for answers? Or who I could contact to get a straight answer? Don't want to apply for the IEC ($250) if we are not eligible anymore.

There is no issue applying for IEC while the PR app processes. They have nothing to do with each other.

I think you are way off here Schnookololy....

No one is suggesting that you only go with a scanned copy of your COPR to land. We were talking about entering the country AFTER landing, but BEFORE having a PR card.

It is absolutely fine to use a scanned copy of your paperwork to travel with after you have landed - the paperwork itself is clearly labelled not to be used for travel purposes, but having the data/ref numbers/etc. from your COPR handy makes clearing you in to the country as a resident, without a PR card, straightforward.

I wouldn't in any way recommend travelling with your actual paperwork after landing - that's not something you want to lose....hence the scanned copy...

Ahhhhh yes I did misunderstand. I thought you said that you landed with a scanned COPR which just seemed insane to me, lol, but as proof of having already landed, that's different. I suspect it's probably a case-by-case basis, some airlines or agents might be fine with a scan, others might require the paper copy. Apologies for the misunderstanding!

Hi,

I had a request to send in a copy of my passport and additional photos in order to proceed to COPR. Submitted these as requested to London over 6 weeks ago and still no update. In the email that I received it stated to follow up if we have had no response within 4 weeks.

Just wanted to check if anyone else is in a similar position and who / how did you follow up. Email is a bit vague and suggested using the 'email form on the website'. Application was processed in Ottawa but additional documents were sent to London. So not sure which website and not found any email form on either

Thanks

Indy

I would have expected you to have heard by now, try dropping a case-specific email.

Don't know if anyone can help us on this one. We entered my CL partner in the IEC pool in January. However since then we sent in our family class sponsorship. I have recently received AOR (I was just added to the spreadsheet!).

Applying for and working on an IEC doesn't impact the spousal application at all, so you can go right ahead with it. :)

I'm the same boat. Entered the pool on Dec 2nd, just got my invite. I've not seen it anywhere or heard from anyone who says you can't. I'll be submitting my documents in the next few days for IEC. Congrats on the invite!

I was in Canada on IEC for several months before we applied outland. I was then working for a few more months on IEC while our application was processed. No problems at all.

Hi,

Spousal application (outside Canada) submitted.

i'm not sure when I should contact CiC

Application received by Mississauga 8th March 2016
Acknowledgement email received 2 April 2016
Application started processing 1 April 2016

current timescales is 41 days for sponsor approval. Do I base this from application received date or from date application is being processed?

Philippa...just spotted your post (I'm a bit slow on the uptake) .... yes we have the same dates. And I have a sister called Philippa. Are we linked by some cosmic string? Now there's a theory....

I wouldn't email just yet as its only been about 51 days and the new time-scale only kicked in a few weeks ago, I would still go by the the spreadsheet as nearly everyone waiting for SA has been over this new 41 days, theres people who were 68 days, 57 days, 44 days etc. I would give it another week or so at least.

I agree with Kingsby. The quoted time is from when your application arrived, but you're only just over it by 10 days and it's only recently changed. Only one person after you has SA so far... I'd sit on it another week and then drop a case-specific enquiry, or give Mississauga a call. (All contact info in the FAQ.)

Where is lvo in terms of applications? Any dec applicants gotten dm yet?
