Thank you for the advice! Here are the details you requested to be added to the spreadsheet.SchnookoLoly said:Average is at 9 months right now... which is down from 12 about a year ago. So I wouldnm't really count on processing times getting much shorter. The shortest average was about 6 months and that was going back awhile now.
If yo uwant to be added to the spreadsheet, then let us know the date of yoru sponsor approval, which office has your application, and your current location, then oen of us will add you in. The more data on the spreadsheet, the more accurate the spreadsheet will be!
Great thank you. So December 23rd 2015, which would suggest an approval time of around late September early October 2016 if the average stays the same and there are no errors or missing information.Ponga said:Processing times are based on when the complete application was received by CIC.
Okee, I've added you. I am assuming you applied as common-law and not as married? I've also just written UK as your location, but closest major city would be better, just helps people get an idea of where applicants are located and how long it takes COPR to arrive.Blibblobblib said:Thank you for the advice! DATE OF SPONSOR APPROVAL: 24th February 2016 (This was the date on the confirmation letter we received stating my partner had met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor)
OFFICE FOR APPLICATION: I am assuming it will be London?
CURRENT LOCATION: My location is the UK
Can I confirm something? You say that it is at a 9 month average waiting time right now. When does the waiting time apply from? It is super confusing as we have A LOT of dates that have been thrown at us, so...
Is it from the date my partner was confirmed as a sponsor (24th Feb)
or is it the date the CIC initially received the entire application (Dec 23rd 2015)
or, i'm assuming not but is it the date which my partners Sponsorship application started being processed (Feb 15th 2016)
or is it the date that my PR application begun being processed (March 4 2016)
If anyone can clear this up for me so I can calculate a rough date that would be hugely appreciated.
The eTA is not a visa. You are still visa-exempt and just need to send passport copies.byron86 said:Just a quick question, i received a final request email over night which gives you 30 days to reply. They have asked for either my passport or passport photo copies depending on if you come from a visa exempt country or not. Im an English citizen and was previously visa exempt, however the new ETA comes into effect on March 15th. So does this mean I am not visa exempt and will need to send my passport?
Thats great thank you.SchnookoLoly said:Okee, I've added you. I am assuming you applied as common-law and not as married? Also, the processing officew ill be on your sponsor approval letter. It'll have the full address of the office that has your application, either London or Ottawa. Please confirm which office has yours, London or Ottawa.
Awesome to find someone with practically the same timeline as me. My status also went in process on Jan 7th, but I haven't had any request so far. :/ ...wondering if that's good or bad.Philippa said:Hello, Please may I be added to the spreadsheet?
Date Application was received: October 26, 2015
Date of Sponsor Approval Letter: December 30, 2015
Office of Application: London
Current Location: Vancouver, BC
Married Spouse
On my "Check Application status" on CIC it says the date the Application was received was October 26, 2015. Then underneath, it says "We started processing your application on January 7, 2016" (assuming this was when London received it after my sponsor had previously been approved while the application was in Mississauga). Also states "Medical results received". I had my medical done before I applied.
I then had some correspondence on January 8, 2016 asking for 4 more photos as they changed the photo specifications after I sent my application in October. I sent new updated photos that same day tracked. Never had acknowledgement that they were received but my tracking says they were delivered.
Had another email of correspondence January 19th, 2016 with the exact same letter asking for 4 new photos. I sent more photos again just to be safe. Tracked but it doesn't say delivered yet. Still in transit.
Hope I've provided sufficient information. Thanks!
So even though I will require an ETa when I land in Canada it does not change the fact I am visa exempt and only need to send photocopies of my passport and not the actual passport itself.canuck_in_uk said:The eTA is not a visa. You are still visa-exempt and just need to send passport copies.
Yes, you will need to apply for an eTA. However, the eTA is not a visa. A visa requires that you send your actual passport in order to have the counterfoil placed in it. An eTA only requires that you go to the website and enter your information.byron86 said:So even though I will require an ETa when I land in Canada it does not change the fact I am visa exempt and only need to send photocopies of my passport and not the actual passport itself.
The confusing part is in the email CIC give a link to help you determine if you are visa exempt or not and it leads to the ETa section which states i will need an ETa so I assumed I would need to send my passport away.
Ok great so I don't have to worry about the drama of sending my passport off, I just send the photocopy and then worry about the ETa before I land in Canada! That makes everything a lot easier. Is that what you had to do?canuck_in_uk said:Yes, you will need to apply for an eTA. However, the eTA is not a visa.
