Does anyone if and approximately when CIC updates the medical results in the application page? My wife had a re-medical a few days back and ECAS still shows the last medical sentence.
On my ECAS sponsor approval doesn't even say decision made and we got accepted early september lol It seems that they are very slow to update anything on ECAS. So it might be that they never up date it to say they have received your new results. I would just email them to confirm that they have received them.

Hi All, congrats to those who have recently received DM. I've been a fairly quiet observer so far on the forum because, well I've not really had any updates from CIC since I applied in April. However I received this email this morning.

In order for us to finalise your application we require payment of the outstanding RPRF. This fee is payable in accordance with the instructions in the sponsorship kit and on our website.

Does this mean they really are on the final stages of my application or this is just a standard thing they send out? I actually sent the $490 2 weeks ago so just replied with a copy of the receipt and stamped slip of paper. Also in the email header it has my application number followed by SXB3 - any idea what that means?

Thanks in advance for your help

When I received a request from SXB mine said SXB2 ... HMMM I wonder what the number means. Maybe they number each file they are looking at or something.

I had officer LJF work on my file . Was fast and efficient and had common sense.

Congrats Brit-in-Alberta for your DM. They do not have any logic or sense in handling cases or providing updates etc. or even merely updating the information in ECAS.

Yeap... no idea how long I will be waiting for the actual DM. Passing the sponsor stage is just half the battle.

Hi Guys

I'm trying to get some advice. I am sponsoring my husband who is a UK citizen through the London Office. My husbands application is still 'In Process', we are both currently living here in England however we were hoping to leave the UK in March, although we fully accept he may not have DM by that time. I'm a Canadian citizen and have a job offer early next year which i would like to consider. Does anyone know if i move back to Canada, can my husband come with me on a temporary visitor visa and wait it out? As a UK Citizen he gets a six months visitor stamp at the border, however we are unsure if we can change our address on ECAS to a Canadian address?

Has anyone done this and if so how did they go about it.

beavergirl905 yes, both you and your husband can move to Canada early next year. Things to note:

  • Your husband is visiting, not moving. If/when questioned by CBSA officers make it clear that he is just visiting while you wait, and would like to visit for 6 months
  • Also let them know that before the 6 months is up he will either return to the UK or apply to extend his visitor record
  • Have a copy of sponsor approval and any other communications from CIC just in case they ask. If you can, buy him a refundable return flight too

Being British he should not have any trouble, but I mention having a return flight as some airlines may refuse him boarding the plane without one, although I've flown into Canada on a single ticket 3 times with no problems.

Hi Andrew

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate that. Do you happen to know if it would be an issue changing the address on ECAS to a Canadian Address, and if so do you know where we would do that. or when would be a good time to change it if we were leaving in March

thank you again

It would not be a problem. You can change it in ECAS. If you sign in with the applicant's details you will see 2 buttons (Update this home address and Update this mailing address). In your case you would want to update them both. I would also send a case specific enquiry to London with details of your new address.

Just do it once you arrive in Canada.

Hi all!

I had Decision Made on 4th December - does anyone know roughly when to expect COPR? I'm sure it can take a little while.

Thanks!

@sausageboyuk We track when the COPR is received in the spreadsheet, column M.

Hi Andrew

Again thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have had a look and for some reason i am unable to log in to my Husbands ECAS, presumably i use the same UCI number or application number but with his details. Sorry we haven't logged in that way before

No worries, a quick summary on ECAS. The first that time CIC contacts someone, they generate a UCI for that individual. That UCI stays with them through all future applications. In my case, in 2010 I applied for a working holiday visa and I still use the same UCI today.

So, as the sponsor this was probably your first time dealing with CIC (unless you emigrated to Canada or what have you). So, assuming this is your first experience with CIC when you received sponsor approval letter that would have been the first reference to your UCI. During the sponsor approval process they would have added your husband to their system, and this step would have generated a UCI for your husband, but you do not know it as they most likely have not sent your husband any communication yet.

So, there are 3 ways to use ECAS.

1. Using the sponsor's UCI (located above the file number in the sponsor approval document) and the sponsor's family name, date of birth and country of birth.
2. Using the applicant's UCI and the applicant's family name, date of birth and country of birth.
3. Using the file number (located under the sponsor's UCI in the sponsor approval document) and either the sponsor's or applicant's family name, date of birth and country of birth.

In your case you should use the file number and your husband's family name, date of birth and country of birth, and as stated previously you should also send a case specific enquiry explaining that the applicant now resides in Canada, give the address, etc.

Just wanted to report that we received COPR on December 11 via signed-for post from LVO. It was postmarked Nov 25 so took a while to get here :)

A huge thank you to everyone on this forum - especially those maintaining the spreadsheet. We originally considered paying a lawyer $5k to handle the app for us, as the process seemed overwhelming at first glance. But with the information and guidance here we realized we were better off handling it ourselves as no lawyer would ever pay as much attention, or be as well informed as the fine people on this forum.

Congratulations Andrew-brit and Taffy! And hope everyone else from 2014 get their responses soon!
