Hey there,

we have used a lawyer to handle our case, and I believe he has sent the receipt to both London and Mississauga right after we made the payment. If the fee was not received, then london office would've asked for it again after 30 days, around March 1 I think. Since they did not ask again and have gone further to ask another medical, I think it is safe to assume they have the receipt :)
true - but it's always safe to ask the lawyer to confirm where he has sent it, because you're paying him... but you want to make sure he is on top of things (not all lawyers are, unfortunately!).
Glad to see that they have asked for the re-medicals, your file is slowly but surely moving forward!

thanks for your reply Sweden. I sure am giving a tough time to my lawyer since yesterday as there was a little confusion around the medicals as well.

Anyways, all set and done (Thank GOD), my husband has booked an appointment for tomorrow, and the clinic has told us that they expect to send the results in 4 - 5 working days, which will be middle or end of next week. Really hoping that after London has the medical results, they don't delay the case any longer as my husband and I cannot afford any type of delay at this moment.

Hoping for the best!

not sure which users have the ability to work with the spreadsheet, but in the "Notes" section for me, can someone please remove "waiting since 222 days" and change the re-medical request date to April 8, 2013 rather than April 9, 2013. thanks!

It might be a pointless question at this stage, but may I ask why you used a lawyer? It seems using one does not add anything to the case, and many actually take time to inform you of any news since all they care about is the money. However, it seems you are approaching the end of the tunnel, so hopefully your case should end soon. Best of luck!

I read on one of the previous comments that once the Decision is Made, LVO request the passport to issue the visa. I decided to go back to my country of origin and wait there for my case since it is costing me a lot waiting here in the UK after I ended my job and everything (I assumed I would be done and dusted by now). However, I am worried that if I book my flights for next week, and then hear from the consulate, then they might hold my passport for ages and I will not be able to fly home without it. Does anyone know how long they keep the passports for? and do they mail it or expect us to go pick it up? Cheers

For us we had the passport request first then the decision made came after once the visa was stamped.
London visa office does not hold your passport for long. Stamping the passport is the final step.
We got back ours in 10 working days and that was through the mail.
If you are living in the UK then you do have the option of dropping it off and picking it up in person which will be faster of course.

Hope it helps!

Was that 10 working days from outside the UK? How many days if mailed within the UK?

If I recall correctly in chopsticks' case, they are outside of the UK but in the EU.

Last year when we submitted our application, my husband and I were both extremely busy in our life (studies+work) and neither one of us had a clue about how to apply, which forms to fill, and we just didn't want to mess up anything. Therefore, we figured it will be a better idea to let a lawyer handle everything for us. It did save us a lot of time and hassle. I guess we don't regret using a lawyer but yea, if we had all the information that we have now after discovering this forum, then we probably wouldn't have used one. We just wanted to make sure that everything was done 100% correctly...

Oh ok, I did consider the same too but when I looked into it I changed my mind. Do you know if LVO reply the emails of lawyers or do they ignore them too?

Yes my experience was from the EU.
I am guessing within the UK would be faster.

Thanks Sweden. Is that 3 to 5 days after they receive the passport? I am just guessing they have a habit of holding stuff for weeks before they look at it :)

no - it's 3 to 5 days after it turns into decision made on ecas. From what I have seen, the DM on ecas appears the day the passport/COPR is sent out. Timeline between when they receive the passport and when they issue the visa is more blurry, but I would say probably a week to 10 days. But in any case - it's great news because London only asks for the passport when they are ready to issue the visa (unlike others).

Good luck!

Oh ok cheers. Well I am still waiting for them to ask for my passport. I hope it happens soon as I am leaving the UK.
