Others have mentioned getting emails related to their application and the process. I've never gotten an email related to my immigration from Buffalo or Mississauga. ? Even though I'm sure I included my email in my application. Does anyone know why that would be? So far everything has been received via snail mail, except the RPRF receipt (because it was done online).
It's hit-and-miss. Our sponsorship approval came by snail mail. Our AOR and PPR came via e-mail, but the document request came by snail mail, with *hand* written notes.
I understand a great deal of this has to do with the IO that is processing it.

Sure Medical Received is confirm both on Ecas & on the GCMS note. Anyways there was a bring forward date on our GCMS note so maybe they are waiting till that date before opening the file.
The BFD on our GCMS notes as of Oct 9 was sometime in April of 2012. Don't get disheartened -- I think that is only there so that IF nothing else has caused them to look at the file, it will be dusted off and rechecked at that time.

I finally called my MP last month. Didn't help a bit. She said we are in cue for February. I told her that I know there are people that have received PPR that filed later. She said that can't be the case and I told her about the forum. She said that she has no way of knowing that the info is correct and that I am in cue for February.
That's when I would have gotten snarky... like... "yeah... so these people are out there lying just to mess with us... because it's such an easy, popular and cool thing to do."
I would contact them again and tell them that you'll be remembering this come election time. You've asked for help and their response should NOT be "suck it up".
Is there anyway to move these along faster? Why are we seeing Buffalo applicants receiving PPR's filed later than the date we filed and not seeing any movement on ours?
There are a couple things I can think of:
1. get your GCMS notes. Knowing where your file is at puts you in a much better position to be probing both the MP and CIC.
2. check for discrepancies. If you had your meds done, but they're not in the GCMS notes, get Ottawa to forward them to Buffalo. If your notes have something about a doc request, but you've not received it, get your MP to find out what they need.

I don't think you need to get them ahead of time, they gave us 15 days from the date of the letter to get it to them.
Buffalo gives 30 days.

They asked us for 2 recent photos that are 35mm by 45mm, your passport, the confirmation letter with your Name, Birth Date, Height and Eye Colour in a specific section and then a prepaid return 9"x12" envelope. That was going to LA though, I don't know if its different for Buffalo.
There was no specific form to fill out for Buffalo. They just requested the information be included. It was also to be an "XpressPost - National" envelope that was the metric equivalent of 9x12 -- odd considering a passport would fit in the smaller size.

Well apparently Buffalo mailed me a letter on Sep 11th saying they needed criminal background clearance which I never recieved and of course has already been sent with my app.If It wasnt for my friend looking into my app we would have never known anything. This system is such a joke.First they want medicals redone and now this.I cant wait to see whats next.
Our MP was able to tell us exactly what had been requested after they contacted Buffalo. If your friend can't figure it out for you without getting fired, get the MP to find it.

As for MPs, yeah that is a good question, isn't it? A lot of people have gotten PPR shortly after having their MP look into the case for them. Then again, some people have been writing to their MP constantly and really struggling for some assistance and they might get PPR without any sort of inquiry from their rep's office.
As I mentioned previously, there are only three records of incoming correspondence on our GCMS notes: two inquiries from our MP's office and the SNAIL mail submission of the requested documents. There were NUMEROUS e-mails -- I have submitted voluntary updates along with status requests, probably about one or two per month since March. NONE of them are on the file.

My husband, by the way, came to Canada on the FSW applicant stream. He likes to make fun of me and how I babysit this process. He told me, "well, I just sent in the forms and waited, and then I got permanent residency, and my application type was much more difficult and complicated!" :
I don't know the FSW process, but many applications follow a different process order than spousal. For instance, we have to get the meds done and criminal background check(s) done before submitting the package in the first place. Other application classes have those requested at the appropriate time. I think this leads to much more babysitting -- to have to get meds or crim checks redone is costly -- we all want to avoid having to pay those fees a second time because CIC didn't get around to opening our file. If they requested them when they were ready to deal with them, I think we'd be a lot less antsy.
