Well, I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say the directions seem like you're "making up a whole new passport." The particular documents they require are the U.S. passport, two immigration-sized photos, and a sheet listing the height and eye color (all of those for each accompanying family member). As far as what to do about the baby, although I'd leave experts to answer that, I'm thinking it's better (and it doesn't hurt) to inform CIC of the birth, perhaps by mailing the birth certificate to the visa office. Even if CIC doesn't need to be informed when the sponsor is a citizen and not a PR, it can't hurt to update them, right?

It won't hurt. But the baby was born in Canada so is automatically a citizen, no matter the status of the parents. It's just not necessary and the OP should be sending his passport off now rather than worrying about this. If he really wants to update them, send an email.

Yes, precisely. For the photos, it's obviously the same specs you dealt with originally when sending them in with the application: 35 mm x 45 mm total, 25 mm to 30 mm from chin to crown. There's no form for the height and eye color sheet, so just type it up. There's a bunch of info and first hand accounts of people who have gone the go-to-Buffalo route to submit passport and land at the same time, but they're mixed in here in the thread and it takes some searching. I think getting there early in the morning seems to be what people advise doing, so depending on feasibility, you might indeed need to get there the night before and stay at a hotel.

Congrats on the baby. What a Thanksgiving indeed ;)

Not quite sure all of what this entails, so just to be sure, what you're saying in total I need is:

- My U.S. passport
- Two immigration sized photos (Canadian passport size I presume?)
- Sheet that says my height and eye colour (blank sheet with the info? or is there a form to fill for this?)

ok, thanks

PPR!!!!

We never got our e-mail but Buffalo sent a copy of it to our MP's assistant, and she forwarded it to me!!

One question...

it says if we are in Canada, we have to send it to Fort Erie, but we would REALLY rather not send his passport by regular Canada Post. It is just not secure enough, and I'd rather send it by courier. Unfortunately, the form also states that courier services is only available through Buffalo... which is only available if we're NOT in canada????

PLEASE tell me there is a way to courier his passport, get the COPR attached and courier it back within Canada???

Either way though... WOO FRIGGIN HOO!!! :D

Did you end up sending a case specific enquiry to Los Angeles...I am shocked that its taken this long with them....If not...take our spreadsheet, even the one from March to ur MP and ask them about checking into it....also explain to them what happened to me...if you need the info about my case again, inbox me and I can fill you in...

So I settled and am now living in London, Ontario, woot woot!

Crossing was a breeze, I seriously expected something different, even though I know I've read other accounts of it being so fast too.
We arrived at Blue Water, went wrongly into the 'trucks' area. Got an escort to the traffic area and parked.
Went inside, I had to make some modifications to my goods list. I knew what things we ended up not bringing, but I did not want to write on their papers without their permission. So I had to do that then.
Then she discussed a few things with me, mainly my vehicle being mine how long. She filled out that paperwork, gave me the RIV info. Stamped everything and said thanks, bye. I asked about my Cat and she said "does it have current rabies?" yes - she said your good to go then.
I said, you don't need to inspect him or pay a fee? No need to look in the truck (we had a 26ft uhaul FULL to the brim).
Nothing. We were off and on our way in I'd say 10 mins, 15 with the parking.

hi Stumped!

Yes we did send a case specific enquiry-asked if they could confirm if they had received our application or not, and also mentioned that our Medicals expire October 12th 2011.

:( :( :( THAT IS TODAY.

We have heard nothing back from LA.

I had been writing to my MP since June...yep 4 months, i sent links to all the forums so they could get an idea of what we go through. I sent the spreadsheet. I sent a whole background story of my husband and I, and every detail about immigration so far. . .and kept writing to update them about anything worthy (hubby getting extended visitor visa, file being x-ferred to LA etc) Finally on FRIDAY my MP sent a consent form and had the request out that morning. So--we shall see where it goes now. Seems like it took the "Hey our medical is about to expire" message to get them going on it.

We have to hear something soon....

Congrats on the PPR's!

Next week or the following week my wife and I are driving to Buffalo to hand over passport and hopefully land on the same day.

Until then, getting together laundry list of stuff to import. I hope they don't require serial numbers on everything, especially from my fam in Michigan who are giving me a huge box full of my dad's old stuff. Also gonna try to squeeze in a few 1.75L of liquor. ;)
