Yep, that's exactly what it says in the document before you get to the form section, and intuitively, one can't help but draw the conclusion that them pulling the paper file for something or other rather than just print off some screens (which already takes a month to do) *has to* delay the process, right? I just haven't been able to find something in writing to attest to that on CIC's site.
delaying or not, i have no choice but to order CAPS/GSCM notes as there is a note there in the application that all files beginning june of 2010 if i am not wrong are kept in GSMC format, because my file and all of our files whoever applied to buffalo after june 2010 is in this format then it should be in GSMC format , hence electronic ,,,,

No u qualify once u land

Inland apps after stage 1 gets approved for permanent residency whereas outland after "stage 1" is qualifying the already Canadian eligibility to sponsor u the sposnored might not meet the requirements IE MOC so it wouldnt apply to u
So you mean that only those who applied Inland once get 1st stage approval are eligible for OHIP?

Yes

you have submitted an application for permanent residence in Canada, and Citizenship and Immigration Canada has confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada (please note: applicants for permanent residence are no longer required to provide confirmation of having satisfied the Immigration medical as a condition for OHIP coverage);

As my app is Outland what I have to do now is to spend more money on purchasing some medical insurance :(

Mumbles, the good news is that applying outland and living in Canada is possible. I spoke to CIC before applying and they actually recommended that we apply outland, even though we're living in ON, because it would make cross-border travel easier while our application is under consideration (and typically timelines are shorter).

We submitted our application to BUFF in Nov. 2010 and my husband has been here since. Of course, he hasn't been able to attend school or work, but this is a small sacrifice in order for us to be in the same place. We have crossed the Canada-US border at least 4 or 5 times, and he has been able to re-renter every time. We were issued one 6-mth visitor visa at the Quebec/NY border by a really helpful and pleasant border agent and when it was about to expire, we applied for a renewal online. Just like it is for everyone on this forum, the waiting has been tedious for us - but thankfully we haven't had any problem in relation to being together in Canada as we wait.

Hope that you guys can be just as lucky!

Thankx Jayde ..but i am a little confused...we are applying outland...why are they ok with him coming to stay for 6 months ? I guess I figured that because we were applying outside of canada that they would expect him to BE outside Canada....not waiting IN canada to get his PR... they were really ok with your husband saying that he was going to visit you until your PR was approved??

Ordering CAIPS or GCMS does not delay your processing. Ordering the non-electronic file, on the other hand, would. And you mentioned you checked off "visa file," which is what the non-electronic file is.

You can also add us ddobro2. My wife had a forum issue which I evidently have too in being unable to update timelines in the left part under forum username when you read posts, or even add to forum signature. Dunno what's up with that but she gave up. I personally don't care and will post updates anyways.

Outland PR App Sent to Mississauga May 27 2011
Received May 30
Sponsorship In Process July 5th
Sponsorship approval/Xfer to Buffalo July 5th
Buffalo shows on e-cas it received Applicant's PR application July 15th

Nothing else so far, but a few things to note:

- Filed late May but sent in a FBI clearance dated in December 2010. Sent in cover letter with app explaining we already submitted another clearance request. Clearance request completed 6/30/2011, received back mid July. (we should be able to send them the one we just got in July instead of doing another when they request it as the app was filed in May?)

- Wife is just a couple days short of 41 weeks pregnant, when baby is born (wife is Canadian, and baby is going to be born in Canada) we will notify Buffalo about change of family. At that time we will ask them if we can send in the updated clearance doc instead of waiting for the long process queue and request later.

- Entered Canada April 2011 on ground with wife.. passport only, went to Peace Bridge mid September 2011 (a few weeks ago) to do visitor record, turned around before going on the bridge itself to the U.S. and escorted inside CBSA building once telling booth guard we wanted to do visitor record, visitor record given and currently valid until Sept 2012.

As I said in an earlier message, I'd say ours is a pretty straightforward, routine case. Complete application with fees paid up front, lots of relationship documentation, no criminal issues, my husband (the applicant) is well-educated for finding work in Canada and we just had a baby. Unless there's something I don't know, I think we just applied at the wrong time. We're not at 11 months yet but getting close...that said, on our CAIPS/GCMS notes we noticed that CIC has given themselves a self-imposed deadline of March 2012. Let's hope it doesn't take that long!

CIC Confirmation Letter – letter on CIC letterhead addressed to the Applicant for Permanent Residence that confirms that the applicant is eligible to apply for permanent residency in Canada;
CIC Immigration document such as a Work Permit, Visitor Record, Temporary Resident Permit or Study Permit with note in the “Remarks Section” that indicates that you have applied for permanent residence; or
A Work Permit case type 27, which are issued solely to individuals who have applied for permanent residence within Canada.

which I had for them to see.....that was the point I was contending with them.
