It will be fastest if you apply outland through Buffalo using the forms at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp (including 1344 and 0008 - if you download them from the links at that address you'll get the new versions that you can fill out and validate. Once you validate them, bar codes will be generated that you include at the top of your application so they can scan them and capture the info faster once your application is received.
Oh great - it seems I was looking at the wrong forms (or maybe they were just the old forms?) to send out - so I just complete all forms in this link? I just want to make sure I have the correct application :o

Hi ALLY06, yes, that's the correct link to the forms for outland application. You probably want to (re-)read the guides carefully to make sure you fill out the necessary forms correctly and skip those that are not applicable to you.
Congratulations and have fun with the coming wedding! :D

You're welcome! I got helps and learned a lot from other forum members and am glad that I can share what I've learned after all these months of waiting and reading. ;D

Yes, definitely! I'm going to Buffalo later this week, so maybe I'll carry some with me! :P

Buffalo (and other satellite offices), send some good news please!

lol - Buffalo start getting inundated with sets of dice from random applicants, all with loads of spots painted on them. They'll wonder what went on :D

Oh well - you gotta do something to keep the spirits up eh!

hi.
how is the buffalo processing time going on ? is it 11months dot or it can be less than that as well ? please share you timelines.

It certainly can be less, I've seen as little as 4-5 months, but it's not always the way. These are the current processing times from CIC: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

Technically while it's 11 months, I wonder.. does the 90 day sponsor thing count separate? I know the sponsor time is increasing and they are still working on Feb apps. Used to be closer to 2 months rather than 3.

I've been meaning to ask, what does each colour in the spreadsheet represent ;D

90 day waiting period is excluding the 11months... and yes the first step processing time is increasing week by week. i wonder when they will start with march applicants

The approximate 11 months processing time counts from when CIC receives the application, ie, it includes the time for sponsorship approval.

Looking at the Buffalo spreadsheet (link in my signature), most cases were completed much less than 11 months. However, keep in mind that there are always some slow cases due to complexity of the applicants' background and history, time required for criminality check in other countries, missing or loss of documents, workload of visa office, time waiting for interview, etc, we would need to be prepared for longer wait time.

Here is the colour scheme of the spreadsheet:
- Orange: default for a new member
- Yelow: AOR from VO received
- Green: PPR received

Anyway, good luck to everyone who are waiting and who are about to start waiting!

Unfortunately, the 90 days are in addition to the 11 months for 80% of the applications to be completed.

It's not very clear on the step 2 page, but the intro/step 1 page explains that "There are two steps in processing family sponsorship applications. In order to know the total approximate time it may take for your application to be processed, ADD the time in step 1 to the time in step 2 (the two steps are consecutive)."

I wish it the 11 months included the first step.. it's starting to feel like so long! :(

I wonder when CIC will get around to doing the quarterly update for the processing times.. ::)

Oh dear, somehow I thought the 11month includes step 1, maybe it's my wishful thinking... sorry I was wrong.

It was raining hard earlier and now the sun is out, so I think it's a good sign! By the way, canuckofchicago (filed in April 2011) got PPR last Friday. Hope things continue to go well!

WE Finally got PPR !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :D ;D :D ;D lol

we sent in the documents on august 18 so it has been 9 month. It was done in Detroit. The funny thing is we were waiting for so long and sent them a paragraph long email yesterday about what we should do and why its taking so long. They replied back that evening saying it will be soon. So we thought they were stalling as usual. Then this morning we get the email for PPR so I think that email pushed them to look into it more??

anyways my wife is with me right now in canada should we send the passport from canada or cross the border and mail if from the US?
also for the return should we get them to mail it back to the states or to canada does it matter?

I don't think it matters where you mail it to/from - it may be cheaper from the US but you'll pay for gas...and, unless she has a passport card won't be able to get back in to Canada ;)
